Mg? MissAmerjc Clearbrook Public School Clearbrook, Minnesota Editor: Lurae Hagen Jr. Editor: Sharon Bergman Adviser: Mrs. Refshaw DEDICATION We, the Annual Staff of 1971, do hereby dedicate this 1971 Hornet to Mrs. Edith Ref- shaw. Her concern and generous friendship have prepared us to be better individuals and have led us to the start of a successful future. The understanding and guidance she has given have been greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten. SENIORS JUDY ANDERSON I'm not always 300 but I'm never had. MARY JO BAGAASON A star? Well, she's always out nights. ELIZABETH BOORMAN It's nice to be natural when you are naturally nice. CHERYL CHARLES No, not bashful, just gives others a chance. KEITH COOK Thinking you're thinking is no sign you're thinking. DEBBIE DELA She speaks even when she has nothing to say. 4 To be as a gull-- This is my dream. To attain heights unknown to any single man. To break barriers of time with my shrill, lonely cries. To fly as if clouds as limits do not exist. To realize my directions. My flight will be that of learning and seeking new ways. KATHY DJERNES Somebody told me that peo- ple sleep at night. DENNIS ENGEBRETSON A feIkm unequaled,asports- man complete; a real one to follow, a hard one to beat. CHERYL ENGEN How can you expect love to bloom when one keeps trans- planting it? DANNY ERICKSON He has a car, he drives it fast. The question is: Will it last? PATSY ERICKSON It isn't good for one to be out late at night-but it's all right for two. 5 Backfield, back court, back seat--triple treat. MIKE GIBEAU I agree with no man's opin- ions I have some of my own. JUDI GROSHONG Men aren't perfect, but they're the best opposite sex we've got. STEVE GULBRANSON The girls all think that I'm a real gentlemen, but I'm really just a wolf with patience. CINDY GUNNIN3 If silence were golden, Cindy would never be rich. DEBBIE GUNNING My mind is made up, don't confuse me with facts. LURAE HAGEN A little angel--a lot of devilment. ROGER ISACKSON Thinks well, acts accomplishes much. BECKY JOHNSON She looks like an angel, acts like one too, but you never can tell what an an- gel will do. DARRELL JOHNSON I believe in life, liberty, and a car to pursue my hap- piness. DALE KAEHN His blush could turn a white rose red. KAREN KNUTSON Why should the devil have all the fun? LANCE LARSON I like work, it fascinates me. I could sit and look at it for-hours. ROLAND LUNDMARK I'd like to be shy, but the girls won't let me. LINDA MOEN A keen sensq a common sense, and plenty of room for non- sense. CARRIE NELSON There are two answers to every question, mine and the teachers. BETTY OLSON She may be little-but away little bit counts. VICKI OLSON A lively girl with a dash of wit, wherever she goes she'll surely fit. 8 Sometimes a friend is like a favorite book; You know his every thought and word and look-- And yet you like him handy on your shelf, Because, somehow, he warms your deeper self. Yes, some friends are a lot like favorite books; They don't depend upon their fame or looks. It's what's inside-their deeper basic worth-- that makes us hold some friends the best on earth. JOHN PUICZINSKI He's so industrious that even his hair won't sit down. KAREN RANDKLEV They say she's shy....but wonder. ARVID RUSTEN He's a young man with a spark of genius, but right now he's having a little ignition trouble. GARY SCHOLL The only way to destroy en- emies is to make friends. MIKE SHELQUIST I felt good this morning until I woke up. ARLENE SOLEE I'm not an angel, but I'm happy. DEBBIE STAI I don't say much, but if you could only read my thoughts PAUL THOMPSON He just keeps smiling, it makes everyone wonder what he's been up to. TRUDEE TORGERSON I never knew school was so much fun until I went the other day. ROBIN WESTRUM If she will, she will,' and you may depend on it; but if she won't, she won't, and that's the end of it. ROGER WHEALY Life is too short to sit and wait; 30 out and meet it halfway. 10 Senior Class History CLASS OFFICERS: Roger I., Treasurer; Becky J5 President; Karen K., Vice Pres- ident; Carrie N., Secretary. In 1959, Rt innocent but brave soldiers paraded through the front gates of Clearbrook Public School. We now graduate with 40. We who survived for all 12 years are: Judy A., Cheryl G., Debbie D., Kathy D., Dennis E., Danny E., Patsy E., Mike G., Judi G., Cindy G., Lurae H., Becky J., Darrell J., Dale K., Karen K., Lance L., Linda M., Carrie N., Betty 0., Vicky 0., Karen R., Arvid R., Mike 3., Paul T., TruDee T., Robin w., and Roger W. As time marched on, so did we. Seventh grade came and we were honored to add to our class the Leonard Kids : Elizabeth 3., Steve G., Roger 1., Roland L., and Arlene S. Our talents in building floats showed up in 8th grade when we won a prize with Tip the Tee- pee , as our slogan. As sophomores were given our part in the Homecoming festivities, Mary Jo B. was chosen as princess. The award for second prize was ours for our homecoming float, I Foresee A Victory. Our Junior year was a good year, but not quite as good as the one to come. We won second prize on our Homecoming float, Shuffle the Dragons , and Judy A. was our princess. We, with our adviser, Mr. Blowers, worked hard, long hours on our class play, Taming the Brat . The high- light of our year was putting on the Junior-Senior Prom, with the auditorium decorated in the senior class colors, silver and blue. Our theme was Love is Blue , and the music was by the Impacts . Finally our big year came. Our Homecoming candidates for queen were Cindy G., Debbie G., Lurae H., and Becky J. The king candidates were Dennis E., Bob G., Roger Iq and Roland L. Becky and Dennis were chosen to reign over the royalty. Our float, Reign Over the Warriors , pulled in a third prize. Bob G. was chosen all-conference in football. Our Senior Class Play, with a little help from the juniors, turned out to be a success. The play, Jenny Kissed Me , was di- rected by Mrs. Sutherland. Our class colors are orchid and white; our class flower is the white rose; our class song is Traces ; and our class motto is Life is a mystery to be lived, not a problem to be solved. Our senior year is slipping by quickly. Now we have only the Prom and our class trip to look forward to, and, of course, graduation. 11 CLASS BRAINS: Becky and Paul MOST FLIRTATIOUS: LuRae and Darrell MOST TALENTED: Linda and Lance APPLE POLISHERS: Carrie and Roger GIFT OF GAB: Cheryl and John MOST FEMININE: Betty MOST ATHLETIC: Dennis BEST DRESSED: BEST ALL AROUND: BEST LOOKING: Judy and Mike MOST SHY: Cheryl and Danny PERSONALITY PLUS: Cindy and Roland WITTIEST: Debbie and Dale LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT Being of good health and of sound mind, we hereby declare this to be our last will, in which we dispose of our distinctive traits, abilities, and possessions to our worthy heirs, the Junior Class.
