Alma Mater By Class of '53 I All hail to Clear Spring High! All hail to the blue and gold! We'll cherish thy name forever; Thy praises will e'er be told. Chorus Alma Mater, Alma Mater, We raise our voices high. Our joyful pride to sing For dear old Clear Spring High! II All hail to Clear Spring High! You stand in reverence there! Among majestic mountains, A symbol sublime and fair. III All hail thy glorious name, We pledge our loyalty, To thee our Alma Mater, We'll sing for eternity!

an We wish to congratulate George Eksteins, '52, for drawing original picture for the title Trailblazer . I selected the name, Trailblazer , for our school's first yearbook because, our forefathers, the pioneers of America, expanded and blazed trails through the wilderness to procure their livelihood. In like manner, when we graduate from high school, we, too, shall be blazing our own trails through life, seeking a living of our own. To me this title seems especially appropriate for our yearbook because Clear Spring is located near the base of the Appalachian Moun- tains which was indeed a great barrier to the early trail blazers of our country. One of the main pioneer trails was our present highway route 40 on which Clear Spring is located. The proximity of this route in- fluenced me in choosing Trailblazer . David Walrath, '50
