Kim Ochs, Heather Lindsay and Shelly Talasek perform a precision cheer. Cheerleaders Raise Spirit Spirit, vocal qualities, and hard workers are characteristics of the cheerleaders. They spent two weeks at summer camp in Pasadena. While at camp, they won seven first place ribbons and one second place ribbon. The squad also won first place in the junior high division at the Baybrook Mall Yell-Off competition. The sponsor for the cheerleaders was Ms. Paula Bell. Bobye I-lirschfield winds up forajump. Brisk winds don't hamper the Shawn Dommgues gives a big cheerleaders, enthusiasm. Smile during a pep rally. Student Council Provides Activities Student Council is an organization which is design- ed to promote school spirit and provide activities for students. It is also a chance for students to see how a representative form of government functions. The organization is made up of 42 students. The group sponsored the State elections simula- tion, the food drive, the Freedom Jam concert, and the Valentine's Day dance and party. Seventh grade members are David Carl, Betsy Dowling, Jennifer Baker, Eighth grade student council members are Stephanie Han- nagan, Albert Lopez, Jennifer Menchaca, Alex Sarabia, Karen Schuhmacher, Dipu Bhattacharya, Toni Leago, Cary Uranga, Heidi Chumley, Dane Gordon, Stephanie Tomek, Chrissy Et- nyre, Robert Kwok, and Laurie Garza. Nicole Leago, Steve Grubbs, Eric Lyon, Keith Lynch, Susan Lem, Quay' McLean, Troy Valentino, Tod Clayton, Jennifer Goodwin, Cynthia Moreman, Patti Hickey, Paula McDonald and Mrs. Ferrero. Sixth grade members are Pat Mc- Cabe, Jennifer Abramson, Craig Guidry, Angie Harris, Ashley DeVries, Jill Stubee, Josh Hinsdale, Rand Hopkins, Kristy Baccus, Tchad Robinson, Kelly Glebe, Karen Bell, Justin Kerr, Mrs. Ferrero. Pupils Converse in Spanish Class Spanish was one of the two languages taught here. Students learned the language by the audio-visual method. Ms. Caroline Perez was the Spanish teacher and she taught six classes. At the end of each learning unit some of the students were required to do a summary. They sometimes learned Spanish songs too. At the end of the year they had a fiesta where students were asked to bring Spanish foods. During this event they broke a pinata. Above: The group picture of Spanish students.
