Class History For us the world began in August of 1958, at least the world of new faces, mixed classes, and constantly ringing bells. As 69 freshmen entering C.L.H.S., we elected Jan Arbogast, president; Loren Paulson, vice-president; Cheryl Mayala, secretary; and Karen Bauerfield, treasurer. Our Homecoming attendants were Karen Bauerfield and William Shafer. Our float, Rack 'em Up, took 3rd place. The Sno-Ball attendants were Karen Johnson and William Shafer. The advisors, Mr. Greschner and Mrs. Jacobson, guided us sucessfully through our first green year. We entered in the fall as sophomores with a record enrollment of 72. Our presiding officers were: president, Ric Buhr; vice-president, Harlan Weinke; secretary, Wally Banks, and treasurer, Jim Johnson. Our advisors were Mrs. Kelly and Mr. Payne. Dick Danielson and Pat Madden were our Homecoming attendants. Due to unfavorable weather conditions, we had no Homecoming parade. Sno-Ball attendants were Jan Arbogast and Jerry Steinberger. With our membership reduced to 68, we returned as juniors. We were now the upperclassmen.” To take over our duties this year we elected Lee Herrick, president; Bruce Stumo, vice-president; Barbara DeTar, secretary; and Cheryl Johnson, treasurer. Mr. Bischoff and Mr. Kuechler were our advisors. Many things highlighted this year. We chose Sandra Buhr and Ric Buhr as Homecoming attendants. We ordered our class ring, the Thunderbird, in the early fall. We waited patiently for their arrival until after Thanksgiving vacation. Avis Paulson and John Paulson were Sno-Ball attendants. With Mr. Bischoff and Mrs. Kelly directing, we presented a very successful play Rest Assured. Our prom theme was Deep Purple.” Cheryl Johnson and Jerry Steinberger reigned as Queen and King. Attendants were Linda Hilton, Sandra Buhr, Cheryl Mayala, Carol Anderson, Harlan Wienke, Ric Buhr, Bruce Stumo and John Paulson. As Seniors we completed our last lap of high school life with 61 members. Executive offices were filled by Nancy Wittstock, president; Steven Erickson, vice-president; William Cress, secretary; Marlyn Christensen, treasurer; and Donna Jensen, purchasing agent. Advising us were Mr. Bischoff and Mr. Old-royd. Our Homecoming float, Stars to Victory, received first place. We chose Dennis Witthoft as King and Linda Hilton as Queen. Attendants were Karen Bauerfield and Harlan Wienke. Our Senior pictures were taken on October 24 and 25. As Sno-Ball royalty we chose King, William Shafer; Queen, Nancy Wittstock; attendants, Thomas Doe and Jan Arbogast. In the spring we presented One Mad Night, a mysterious comedy in three acts, directed by Mrs. Kelly and Mr. Bischoff. To climax our high school days, we were graduated on May 24, 1962. Top honors went to Kathleen Payne, valedictorian, and Donna Jensen, salutatorian. 23
