CLASS HISTORY Our class, consisting of 50 members, entered Clear Lake High School in the fall of 1953. We were typical Freshmen, eager to discover more about our school and the four years lying ahead. Our biggest thrill of the year was Homecoming and earning first prize on our Freshman float. Class officers for the year were: President -- Jerry Gilbertson Vice President -- Carole Paulson Secretary -- Joy Larson Treasurer -- Verna Baukol During the next year we were more accustomed to our high school life and began to really study and, also, to join more clubs and to take part in extra curricular activities: This year's officers were: President -- Vern Engebretson Vice President — Marge Wallen Secretary — Jerry Johnson Treasurer — Cleo Priebe Time passed quickly and soon we were all back in school ready to receive nine more months of education. Class officers were elected immediately and those chosen were: President -- Joy Larson Vice President -- Verna Baukol Secretary -- Marge Wallen Treasurer -- Jerry Johnson Our Junior year brought many happy and exciting experiences, but one which stands out more than any other was our Junior-Senior Prom. It took place in the school gym on April 27, 1956. We enjoyed preparing for it, decorating the gym, and above all, dancing in a Garden of Roses during a lovely spring evening. Our last year in school brought with it lots of work along with more fun. We received another first rating on our Homecoming float. We Seniors had many extra details to take care of such as taking Senior pictures, sending out graduation announcements and invitations, and finally -- graduation. There were thirty seven of us who graduated in the village hall on May 24, 1957. Those who headed the vyork of our class during the year were: President — Marge Wallen Vice President -- Joy Larson Secretary -- Vern Engebretson Treasurer — Carole Paulson 19
