CLASS HISTORY In September, 1952, 36 eager, green Freshmen reported for the first year of their high school career. The first outstanding event of the year was winning first place on our Homecoming float. Initiation was the next important adventure in our Freshmen lives. Our advisors that year were: Mr. Hoag and Mr. Obst. The class officers were: President, Jack Mayala; Vice President; Pat Olson; Secretary, Geralyn Rubin; Treasurer, Carol Rothe. August 20, 1953, found 32 Sophomores re- turning to school. Our class advisors this year were Mr. Payne, and Mr. Gorr; the class officers were: President, Carol Rothe; Vice President, Jack Mayala; Secretary, Geralyn Rubin; Treasurer, David Ohlin. Returning in September of 1954 for a very busy year were 31 Juniors. The first important event was once again winning first prize on our float in the Homecoming parade. Receiving our class rings and putting on the Class Play were also very exciting. Preparing for and putting on the Prom was the most important event for us that year. Our class advisors were; Miss Repp, Mr s. Peter sen, and Mr. Gorr. Our class officers were: President, Wayne Mork; Vice President, Gary Dado; Secretary, Carol Rothe; Treasurer, Jack Mayala. There were 28 students who came back as Seniors in September of 1955 to complete their final and a very busy year. Again we won first place on our Homecoming float to start the year right. The taking of Senior pictures was a very important event for us this year. Publishing the annual, preparing and putting on the Class Play, and planning for graduation were other very important steps taken this year. Advisors for our final year were Mr. Lundberg, Mr. Larson, and Mr. Allen. The class officers were: President, Jack Mayala; Vice President, Carol Rothe; Secretary, Pat Olson; Treasurer, Elsie Junkans. 17

PROPHECY One bright, sunny morning Wayne Mork, senior veterinarian in the metropolis of Clear Lake, got a phone call to come immediately to the farm of one of the prosperous farmers of the community. When he arrived, he was very much surprised to discover it was the home of one of his former classmates, Carl Paulson. In talking over a cup of coffee, which his wife (nee Ethel Olson), had prepared for them, they began reminiscing about the days back in Clear Lake High, thinking how much fun it would be to see all their old classmates again. They decided to have a class reunion on June, 1966. Leslie Pittman's hotel would be the ideal place for such a reunion so, arrangements made to use it. Leslie said he would give the assistance of his secretary, Elsie Junkans, in calling together all the class of 1956. It was hard at first to locate the class members, but each seemed to be in contact with someone else in the class. Elsie knew Marilyn Krebbs was a missionary-nurse in Madagascar so she contacted her. On the trip home she discovered that Marcia Christensen was the stewardes s on the plane. Marilyn told Marcia of the class reunion and she said she would tell their pilot, Wayne Moore, about it right away. Wayne picked up a newspaper at a short stop and read that the band Ed Hemauer, a famous trumpet player, was playing for was opening that night. He phoned him immediately to tell him of the reunion. Wayne also wired his brother, Duane, a famous artist, about the reunion. During all this time, Elsie was busy writing to and calling class member s. She found that Clara Knoll was a nurse at the Clear Lake Hospital, and Cordelia Kuhn was the head x-ray technician there. Cordelia said she would tell Carol Rothe, who was now married and working as a part-time receptionist at the hospital, about it. Elsie continued contacting them by getting in contact with the Football Coach of Wisconsin State University at Clear Lake, Dan Smith. Next, she located the County Agent, Gary Dado, who in turn got in touch with another of the prosperous farmers, Curtiss Nordby. Curt brought some of his machinery to Eugene Schuna's garage where he found that Harley Hanson had just been hired as a mechanic. He told them of the reunion; they were very pleased about the plans. Karen Fox,a psychiatrist in New York, received a letter from Elsie telling her about the whole plan. In a return letter, Karen said she would see Pat Olson, a dress designer for Sak's 5th Avenue, at a style revue where Mary Ann Petersen would be modeling for some French designers, and tell them about it. Mary Ann said she would tell her beautician Margaret Knutson, about the reunion, too. Jack Mayala, a local minister, was notified by Elsie. Jack knew the addresses of Larry Breeden and Roy Flanum, buddies in the Navy, and volunteered to write of it to them. The class reunion thus got underway. It was held at Leslie's hotel and all 27 class members attended. A good time was had by all as they discussed their previous years in high school. ir
