pnophecy class In alarge penthouse apartment in the better section of Clear Lake, we hear a clock slow- ly ticking away the minutes. The date is June 16, 1962. The time is 2:30 P. M. Patricia Johnson, who has just divorced her third husband, is writing letters to some of her former classmates. She suddenly gets anideato go on a tour and gather all her classmates together for a reunion banquet at the Clear Lake De-Luxe Club. tPat, by the way, is the 5th rich- est woman in the worldj She calls her secretary, June Ostenson, and her maid, Esther Knoll, to tell them of her plans. They are both overjoyed as they will accompany their mis- tress. Reservations are made at the De-Luxe for July 28th. Plans are devised as to where to go first. After much discussion they agree to find all the 52 graduates that are still in Clear Lake and send invitations to the rest. Bright and early the next morning a taxi is waiting outside the apartment house, Pat and her servants are all ready to leave and hasten down to the awaiting taxi. As the door is op- ened for them they notice a familiar face. June recognizes Kermit Thompson, and everyone says hello and asks questions until finally they are off to the University of Clear Lake. As the taxi drives up to the campus Pat says, Lets stroll over to the football field. There is a game going on. They all purchase tickets and are seated when a blue and white clad player steps back to throw Va pass. No one but Jim Hallen could pass like that, says Kermit. And look at that fullback go with that ball. I bet its Bill Rubin. So after the game they all go down on the field to talk to the two players. Are you guys still in college? in- quires Esther. Yes, we both entered in '58, explained Bill. You see Uncle Sam had us for four years. Pat informs them about the banquet and tells them to be sure and come. They both accept the invitation and are about to leave when Pat asks, Are any of the other '52 graduates here at the 'U'? There are a couple of them here teaching. They would be inside by now, says Jim. So the group enters the college. As they pass the gym they hear --position, move, ready, exercise. One, two, three, four, one, two etc. Whats that? asks Kermit. Sounds like a gym class to me, says June. Lets see. Sure enough as they enter the gym they recognize JoAnne Klatt instructing a group of girls. l see you got to be a Phy. Ed. teacher any way, says Esther. Oh, yes, I have been here for four years now and I like it better every year. They all exchange news and greetings, and Pat tells JoAnne about the reunion. I'll be glad to come she replies. When asked if there are any more classmates in the college, JoAnne tells them, A.ndrew Dado is the Professor of Agri- culture, but that he isn't teaching at the present. She is asked to inform him of the banquet and the rest of the group bid their good-byes and take leave. l'm tired, says Pat - Lets stop and see a movie. So they stop at the Glare -De -Leu theater andbuy tickets to the play, Lover Come Back To Me, starring Darlo Dare, Geor- gia Hayes, and Gene Jolson. The 3 girls recognize the stars as former classmates and leave word at the theater about the reunion and return to the taxi. As they walk toward the taxi they notice Kermit talking to Ray W. and Morris H. They are partners in a large dairy farm 22 miles out of Clear Lake, and are in town for groceries, Kermit tells the girls. He also has told those fellows of the banquet, so they drive on 'till they come to a large bub- ble gum factory. Lets stop and look through the building, says Pat. They all go inside the huge build- ing and are introduced to the owner and manager. To their surprise he is Fred Tobias. They all shake hands and Fred proceeds to show them through the building. Just as they start out they see someone blowing a large bubble. PoP I and there stands George Kennetz. Fred tells the girls that George is the best bubble gum tester that he has had on his staff. The tour through the building is completed and Pat tells the two men of the big June 28th cele- bration. They are overjoyed at the idea and tell her they will be glad to attend. As, they drive on they see a large sign saying Kuhnart the Great, -Beauty Salon. I'd like to have my hair waved. says Pat. So once again they stop. June and Esther decide to walk around abit so they leave the taxi and go across the street. After walking about 3 blocks they notice two factories. One has a large neon sign reading Softasilk Diapers Inc. owner- Jim Moore. Lets go in and see Jim, says June. As they are going towards the elevator they notice Jim standingbyhimselfbythe elevator door. They exchange greetings and Esther asks about the factory next door. Oh, that's Ted Olson's Beauty Products factory, Jim announces. His wife demonstrates the products for him. At the present however their fac- tory is closed down. June, his wife, is quite ill. Oh, did he marry June Paulson after- all? asks Esther, and Jim replies, Yes, they have been married about three years now. Esther looks at her watch and tells June they had better hurry back to the taxi. So they tell Jim about the reunion banquet at the De Luxe and ask him to notify Ted and June. Jim thanks
