RADIO STAFF The Lions Roar, as the high school radio program was called, was presented weekly over station KRIB. The fifteen-minute program included school news, sports, music, interviews, dramatics, and a variety of other activities. Made up mainly of members of the speech de- partment, the staff included Mr. Gillespie, faculty advisor: Dick Slocum, program director and chief announcer: and Richard Nichols, chief engineer. These people were assisted by many other students who were on the air at various times. Two years ago, the Lions Roar was a regular feature of the school: last year, however, the program was not produced. The program offered rich experience for students interested in any phase of speech or radio work. The program was produced in the school: the scripts were all written by stu- dents: the announcing was done by students: and even the engineers were students. It is hoped that next year and for many more years the Lions Roar will continue to be an educa- tional and interesting extra-curricular activity of Clear Lake High School.
