HONOR SOCIETY The chapter ot the National Honor Society, the Semper Fidelis Chapter, was organized in 1931 under the sponsorship of Miss Catharyne Chambers. Its purpose is to create enthusiasm for scholarship and a sincere desire to serve the school, to promote leadership: and to develop character in the stu- dents of Clear Lake High School. Membership is based on these tour cardinal truths. The members of this organization are chosen by the faculty from the upper third of the junior and senior classes. New members are initiated twice a year in November and in March. Social and business meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month. The officers this year were Marcia Watson, President: Corine Ashland, Vice President, Mary Borvig, Secretary: Miss Chambers, Treasurer. Miss Chambers and Mr. Weaver were the sponsors. Marjorie Wal1Sf IOGH B1'C1he!'lY Dorothy Iohnson, Maxine Hanson, Patty Hanson, Diane Duesenberg, Linda Kotz, Mary Io Conn, Ron Lang Dick Tarr, Mary Io Gard, Nadine Tesene, Sanda Rabe. The Library Club was organized in 1945 to encourage a desire and an appreciation for good reading among the- students and to give students in- terested in library work a chance to explore it more fully. The 24 librarians do library work during one of their study halls or before or after school. They mend books, check books in and out, check in current magazines keep the library in good order, help students select books, and promote better school spirit. Some have special duties such as keeping the bulletin' board up to date or cataloging new books. All members attend several work nights each year to do special work. ' Library Club is not all work though. It visits the Mason City Public Library during Book Week each year. There is also a Christmas party at which time members decorate a tree in the library and make other decorations. The officers this year were Marjorie Walls, President: Ioan Fuller, Vice President: Sue Nelson, Secretary: and Ioan Braheny, Treasurer. Miss Ruth Sponheim is the sponsor. 39
