Several new members, having mellow and harmonious voices, were added to take the places of those who had graduated. Some of these boys had had no experience in singing beforeg but. nevertheless, they proved themselves very efficient in their work in the club. The showing the boys made in the operetta was evidence enough that they could co-operate and work in accord with the Girls Glee Club. Last year, three members of the Boys Quartette graduated and left vacancies for other as- pirants, Nick Boyovich, Dave Haight, and Lorin Peterson, filled these positions admirably. The quartet sings at various programs and assemblies and at the commencement exercises. This club was formcd several years ago, for the purpose of creating friendship and co-operation among the girls of the different classes. Every girl is eligible for membership and the only requirement is that she pay her yearly dues of twenty-five cents which are to be used in any way the members and offi- cers End desirable, Alternating the social and business meetings, the club meets in the gymnasium twice every rnonth. At this time the members bring their lunches, and find great pleasure in chatting with their friends over their repasts. At the business meetings, various plans and ideas for future :ctivities are decided upon and a committee from a certain class is appointed to make arrange- ments for the next program. At the social meetings. the chosen members of the committee present their entertainment, and this is usually very clever and well received by the girls. After both the business and so- cial gatherings, the girls find immense enjoyment in dancing until the bell summoning them to classes rings. This year a new idea was introduced into the club. The senior girls and several of the juniors are chosen to act as Big Sisters to the freshmen, who, if anything puzzles them, and they wish advice on some problem. can freely come to ask A Big Sisters opinion. i'Big Sister always dances first with her younger school-mates at the meetings. A committee chosen for the purpose of forming stronger friendships among the girls of the school is one whose members are required to welcome, and make friends with, all the new girls who are enrolled in the High School. This committee, composed of a member from each class, is a valued addition to the club and has so far proved to be very successful. During 1930-31 the C Club seemed to have inspired its members into giving a demon- stration of the kind of football and basketball it takes to win championship games. The Club gave its annual dance on january 16. after the basketball game with Kittitas, in order to raise money to pay for its page in the annual. The Rhythm Kings furnished the music and everyone who attended agreed that the dance was a huge success. The several new members and many of the old ones were presented with their letters dur- ing an assembly on january 21, 1951. BO Docka's first year in Cle Elum. as pilot of the Vifarrior athletic ship, was one of marked success. In his debut into the coaching ranks he led the Warritmrs through a football season marred by only one defeat-to the mighty Longview aggregation in the state championship game. Included in the list of Docka's victories were the Yakima Pirates, who dropped a 13 to 6 game to insure the NXfarriors of the Valley championship. He did as well in basketball, sending the squad to the district and state tournaments-quite remarkable, two state tournaments in the same season. His teams are known throughout the valley as aggressive. hard fighting reams that battle to the last ditch and are never through till the final gun. He never alibis in defeat and is equally sportsmanlike in victory. LAIVRENCE SIBILLIA4WtNNER or INsvmAr10N INIEDAL Larry Sibillia, fullback on the football team during the 1950-31 season, received the In- spiration Nedal, which means, he has been the greatest inspiration to the team during the season. Always a spark in the XX'arrior team and a deciding factor in no small way of their victories, Larry was awarded the greatest athletic honor of C. H. S. after the ITIOSI successful grid season a Cle Iilum High School eleven has ever experienced. Larry starred for four years on the XXfarrior gridiron. He is also an excellent basketball player and a good cinder artist. He was picked as the regular fullback for the All-Star Inland Empire team which played at Spokane for the Shrine game. FRANK BOGATAY-f -FOOTBALL IYIANAGER It is fitting, in reviewing athletics, that we give the managers their share of credit. Bogie was the manager of the football team, putting out a great deal of time and hard work in getting :he boys ready for the games. No football summary of this successful season would be quite complete without giving him an extra hand. CHARLES BONAI.'DI f-A' BAskETisAL1. IXIANAGFR Chuck Bonaudi served as manager of the first Cle Elum High basketball team that ever entered the state tournament in Seattle. Chuck took care ofuthe equipment and kept the locker rooms ship-shape. He worked at the manager job for four months. and his tireless efforts aided the Vlarriors in many of their' victories. XX'hen the squad was away on trips and got cramps in the legs, Chuck was always on the spot to give the needed alcohol rub. ANGELO GIAUDRONE--TRACK IXIANAGER Ang took up the duties of track manager this year. He took care of the equipment of the Maroon cinder-men and supplied them with all their needs. He was always at hand when needed. Thir!-1-Fire a 1. lx C Q uf iw A lu N NIU X x n W l l m LXLL Ll NIL xxgl Q VUHX 1 Nl Nl L KH n X 1 N xx l lx X NNKN lk 1 , X x , A xkw Nu K K w L 1 11 X Nm. I's too bad that he won't be back next year, WALTER BANICH-SENIOR-QUARTERBACK Butch is a heady signal caller who meant a lot to the champs. He thrills the crowd in many instances by his wonderful performances of pass snagging and broken-field running. JACK AffLEAN-SENIOR-HALFBACK Sheriff is the flashing Irish halfback, a good interference man, and a powerful plunger. He is a hard-tackler whom we will surely miss next year. DAVID HAIGHT-SEN1oR-GUARD Tub exemplified the old saying of Practice brings perfection. He improved greatly since his first year and is a good tackler with an excellent fighting spirit. ALVIN WEST-JUNIOR-TACKLE Hack is a junior, which is certainly lucky for the Cle Elum High School, since he will be back to win games for the Warricurs next year. He is a hard-hitting tacklerHwho helped on every play. CLE ELUM-13 YAKIMA-7 The trick that had heretofore been considered impossible was turned this year when the Warriors trounced the Yakima Pirates on the latters' own field. The first touchdown for Clc Iilum was the result of a pass from Sibillia to Danubio. Danubio, the flashy end, raced down the field for a touchdown, but the goal wasn't counted on account of offside.q Nevertheless, the squad didn't lose courage but walked down the fieldsfor two touchdowns in that very same quarter. He plays a game that will be equaled hy few of his weight, and is one of the few who, as a Senior. will be wearing four stripes on his sweater. RALPH FREEMAN-SENIOR4END Chesty plays a wonderful game at end position and proved to be a valuable man. He is not a hit bashful about getting into plays and mussing them up. FRED ML'S--JLINIOR-GUARD Freddo is also coming back to the Wfairiors next year. He is a new man to the team, and his offensive is hard to beat. He should be a power next year. JOHN STARCEIylcfff--SOP!IOMORE-FORXVARD Sis struck a bit of tough luck when he broke his arm just before the second game with Iillensburg. He is one of the best fighting men on the squad and promises to be good next year. WALTER BAfNvICHfSENIORfGLlARD Butch is one of the cleverest guards ever turned out by C. H. S. He is not so very tall. but he generally checks his opponent to a standstill. CIIARLES illATAYAfSOPlIOMORITYFORXVARD Chuck is the smallest man on the team, but size doesn't always count- at least. it didn't in this case, Besides being a good shot, he is one of the fastest players on the team. STANLEY STARCEI'ICH-ASO1'11OMOREfFORW'ARD Squancs playing ability has improved a great deal, and he ought to be a good player for next year. He played well all this season. CLIE ELUINI--39 IANIJARY 23 EASTONf2O The rangy Cle Elum Five smothered the Easton aggregation on the latter's own floor with a 59 to 20 score.
