I 54,455 CLASS HISTORY On September, 1944 thirty four industrious HFreshiesn entered Clayton High School to become the great class of 48' One of the highlights of the year was initiation on September 26 we endured it with the hope that lt would our turn the next year Grayce Bjurstrom was elected candidate for Carnival Queen we were represented in both basketball and football by Lynn Larson W were also well represented in band and vocal activities At the end of the year we had lost three students George Martin and John Vance, who quit, and arlene Johnson, who moved to Grantsburg In the Sophomore year we had only twenty eight students left because the loss of three classmates Wayne Larson joined the Navy,Joyce Henning joined Turtle Lake School, and Ruby Springer quit We gave a return initiation party which was greatly appreciated by the Freshmen' In by Douglas Eklund, Norman Murray, and Lynn Larson Ravnes were elected as cheerleaders In forensics ard went to the River Falls contest In vocal and resented by many We had gained Russell Iittelson mates, though we lost Marilyn later when she moved also, left to be married football we were represented Grayce Bjurstrom and Gene Dawn Becker played a first band activitles we were rep and Larilyn Lindrum as class to Lilwaukee Ione hittel When the Junlor roll call was called we noticed a loss of two more Gene Ravnes moved to Washington and Ivan Yittel moved to Montgomery, Linn During the year we lost Peter Buchman, who stayed out a year, and Russell Kittelson and Hazel Lewis, who quit In the spring, Lois Johnson joined us from Clear Lake Grayce Bjurstrom and Lynn Larson were elected candidates for Homecoming nueen and ling Bernyce Ketz was elected candidate for Carnival Queen The class play liss Jimmy , was given February 7,1947 All the cast played their parts well, especially Norman Murray, who played the lead of 'Liss Jimmy', and Earl Lewes, who played the part of Droopy, a ne ro servant The Junior-Senior The ld Lamp Lighter' Prom was held Lay 2 194 with Lynn Larson and Bernyce Yetz as King and ,ueen Those who went out for football were Lynn Larson, Douglas Eklund,Norman Murray, Harold Anderson, and Clement Fall for basketball, Lynn Larson, Douglas Eklund, Norman Murray, and Charles Wilson In the Fall of '47 our wish had come true we were now Senlors Ve galned two more classmates the first part of the year Gene Ravnes, who returned from washington, and Doran ketz Three of our Senior class dropped out Lynn Larson and Bernyce Ketz were married October 18, and Lorralne Sollman was marrled on November 27 Norman Lurray, Homecoming ning by virtue of his being football captain, chose Dawn Becker to be his Queen Rose larle Jones was elected Car nival Queen On December 19 our class pictures and rings arrived Dawn Becker announced her marriage to Bob Davidson on February 10 'The Adorable Imp is the play which our class will present shortly before graduation Lrs Jungblut is coaching it Our class this year was active in music, F F A F H A and athletics Norman Lurray, Douglas Eklund, 'Corky' Ketz, Harold Anderson 'Corky Yetz, Iornan 'urray, Donald Ludwig, and Charles ilson ere ac tive in basLetball On Lay 21 we R111 leave Clayton HlgF, wit? life long memories ard s re nowledge Cwe hope! stored up in us, in search of crm life's career' CLASS OFFY' MQ Presldent To man lurray Secretary June Rau Vlce Preswde t Douglas klund Treasurer Doran let DWI T T CLASC LOTTO Rowing, Iot Drlftlng CLAS' C 7 Navy Blue and White CLASS FLT R Yhlte Rose I X , - g ' be , . . e 4- I1 I - of O .
