There were many concessions and refreshment stands which did a thriving business through- out the entire evening. A short program wasIrendered by the band and the mixed chorus. Many beautiful and useful glfts'were raffled off including a radio, a blanket and many other articles. The highlight of the evening was the crowning of Lois Stumo as carnival queen. Lois won in a clole race with other candidates, Bernice Ketz, Audrey Dietrich and Joann Becker On Friday evening, April II, the senior band gave its first concert of the year The whole band is now decked out in new un1forms,and it ln cludes ten new twlrlers The program was composed of classical and mlli tary music Rodney Becker acted as master of ceremonies an added attract Lon to the program was a novelty number, 'Jack and the Beanstalk ' Rod ney was the narrator and the band supplied the sound effects While the band played a group of their favorite marches, the majorettes gave twirling exhibition Between the band numbers there were many solo and ensemble numbers The proceeds of the concert are to obtain a new flag and schoolban ner for our marching band The Clayton 'Band Mothers' Club was organized on January I3, I947 The following officers were elected President Mrs Earl McKee Vice President Mrs Clarence Nash Secretary Mrs Ninfred Anderson Treasurer Urs Edwin Saern The club was organized for the purpose of giving the band financi aid The band mothera sponsored a carnival and paper drive, netting about S480 OO with which we have purchased twelve more band sults and outfits for the Junior twirlers We hope to be able to bridge any gap between the band's finances and thgir actual expenses.
