It is the famous dip- : lomat, Neal Fellrath, reading a newspaper. Suddenly he starts and says - to the fellows sitting next to htm, 'Look2 Here it says that Mr. and E Mrs. Rodney Becker Che is the industrialist who just bought out the 3 Standard O11 Company! announce the birth of . You know they were 1 both in my class at Clayton. She is the former Lois Jayne Stumo . By .. the way, you're Glen Miller, arn't you? And of all people, Alvin Cotch! 1 What brings you here? P 'I am here on a business trip for the National Insurance Company,' replied Glen. 'It is managed by Emilia Becker. She is an excellent ex- s. ecutive and the company has really prospered since she took over. Of . course Alvin helped a lot, too. He is head of National's publicity Q counsel.' -1 The head waitress hovers in the background waiting to serve them is but a very fashionably dressed lady beckons her. The men turn to see who 1 was responsible for distracting the attention of the head waitress whom they at once recognize as Olga Fall The fashionably dressed lady is none other than Arlyne Magler who gives a delighted exclamation as Hr Fellrath invites her and Olga to join them Aft6F greetings, the five begin remin lscing over old times in Clayton Arlyne, after years of study and ex perience in managing her own dress shop, has b en promoted to chief gown designer for I G M The reunion is so happy and noisy that another patron, without re alizing who these people are, calls the manager of the cafe At once she sees that he is an old classmate, Peter Moriak H is now a jovial, plumb, fellow who sports a mustache and side burns Peter's face takes on an astonished look as he exclaims, Why Goldie Schaffer what a pleasant his C suprise seeing you here 'I dro in here for a bite to eat every afternoon on my way home from P my job as a model at a French dress shoppe 'And what can I do for you Goldiei' 'I was going to why, Peter, those people at that table are our old classmates Let's go over and say hello After more greetlngs, Neal produces a letter from LaVerne H is e farmer in the heart of Amer1ca's Dairyland, Joel, and has one of Iiscon s1n's highest producing herds He stated in his letter that he had just obtained some advice from Polk County's new county agent Clarence Thompson Oh yes, they are both married and as nearly as we can find out Laverne has a boy about three years of age and Clarence has three girls Recently Goldie visited in Clayton while on vacation and she had seen Edna Shortess who now lives in Turtle Lake, Edna had brought her up to date on other members of the class of '47 Hrs Marvin Hagen, the former Betty Uurtinger, is living on a farm near Amery Betty Ann and Byron Bird are still living on a farm near Clayton Neal's private secretary, Joyce Cross, comes in and shovs us two letters she has just received One is from Spring Valley you guessed correctly' It is from the former Delores Kaehler who has been married several years and has sent a snapshot of her two children, a boy and s girl The other letter is from Little America where there are several new settlements. Helen Hsnander is a missionary there, and writes there is an urgent need of more missionaries who have also recieved a complete nursing course Glen recalls what Neal had begun to say when this conv rsation start ed, 'Neal did Rodney and Lois have a boy or a girli' Neal resuming his reading which had been so pleasantly interrupted, exclaimed in hushed astonishment, 'lell I'll be ' It's tr1plets lssestrs W EBM As' X N wmv . Three of the Junior boys, Rodney, Laverne, and Neal played on the basketball team. Our winning float in the homecoming parade must have served as an inspiration to them for they helped the team fight its way to victory in the Shell Lake and Spooner tournaments. How- ever, they lost to Ashland in the last game at Spooner, just one game away from the state tournament. This, our final year at Clayton High, has proved to be just as excit- ing, if not more exciting ang In hope, profits le, than the first three. Our basketball season has been successful, though not as spectacular as last yeari. We won the trophy at the Cameron Tournament. In October we had our graduation pictures taken and ordered our class rings, The boys rings are solid metal and the girls have a ruby setting with the 'C' on top. In February we had a band carnival. The senior candidate, Lois Stumo, was chosen queen, The spring months have largely been spent hard at work on the annual which is being changed in color and arrangement from that of 1946. The cover will be red instead of blue. On the evening of Hay I6, we will present our class play, 'Down and I ups On lay 29th, 1947 we will leave Clayton High for wider horizons. No matter what the future may hold, we will always have memories of Clayton High School locked in our hearts. I L, ,. - ,--:L - , .
