As such, it represents a year to remember. This yearbook is a compilation of happenings during the school year 1950-51 at Clayton High School. As the reader turns these pages, the phases of Clayton life should appear before his eyes. Every- thing-the football games, dances, classes, teachers, clubs, plays, the Teen Center, and the bull sessions --is here. 'Q ,W 6 'fcfq 'wp , . JZ 4 -.. The major portion of the activities was concerned with handling the nu- merous small details which crop up in the extra-curricular life of a school. Pierson was assisted by Vice-President Del Belcher, Recording Secretary Sally Lorber, and Corresponding Secretary Diane Diener. Howard Davis acted as faculty advisor. Raising money for the Teen Center in co-operation with the P.-T.A. was the biggest single project of the year. The Council spon- sored a series of Inter-School' Talent Assemblies in co-operation with three other Suburban League high schools. It collected a memorial fund for deceased senior student Tom Levy. The Freshman Orientation program was another chief Council project. The system of electing class officers was changed so that future groups would be elected in May preceding their term in office. The system of electing Council representatives was changed so that in following years they will be elected from the classes at large instead of from home rooms, as they were the past year. The Council governed the elections of school officials and the Kings and Queens, including a more rigorous system of censorship. The Council also held a major dance in the first of March. Because of the trouble occasioned by registration for voting, the entire registration system was abolished. A special effort was made to present a well-rounded, organized series of assembly programs. The assembly committee, chairmanned by Judy Scallet first semester and Diane Diener second, attempted to present programs on a regular schedule with a balance between things of a serious and of an entertainment nature. Informality was the keynote of meetings, which were held in Clayton House living room. The legislators were able to lie on the floor or relax in soft chairs as they pondered over affairs of school. While Robert's Ruler of Order was available for reference, most of the parliamentarians disdained its use, preferring to keep the group meet- ings of about twenty-five as informal as possible. -2 Fmnz mw B Cohen Elvms Singleton B Dierberg H Seidel Middle mu, Weiss Gardner Reagan Hill Diener Back row G Clark B Barnes Teasdale M Bogan J Wolff A Yun' lo Remember ' 1 F 1 I '41--.. 91 DON BELCHER Vice-Prerident Mr Prefldem ,n damn Page Sirfy-Seven 1 If L -f S hwartz Mzddle row Benson dale A C 1 Wolff Hebeler Teas Reagan Barte i:,2ts'0st,rm Bak attonctl To actors, stage hands prop men malte up grrls and all who work rn the Dramatxc Gurld the hrghest honor that can be achreved has been membershrp 1n rts Troupe 322 of the Natronal Thespran Soclety Each year approm mately 75 members are mrtnated mto thrs organnzano n Membershrp has come when a Dramanc Guxld member ecogmtton o attoncal onor ocac-:ty Outstanchng scholarshrp leadershrp and character are h t e quahfrcatxons for membersh1p rn the Natronal H onor Socrety A faculty commrttee consrderrng these factors prrmarrly selccted members 1n an attempt to honor those h b vt o est represented thelr rdea of good students R l esu ts of 1 student body poll were also avarlable To be elrtglble for membershrp a student needed to rank rn the upper thrrd of the Jumor or senror class Approx rmately 10 yunrors and 20 semors have been rnrtnated each year A cand1date for membersh1p 15 supposed to be of good scholastnc abrllty and also actrve rn extra currlcu lar actrvltles The group IS ennrely honorary rn purpose wrth a sprxng xnrnanon of new members nts only funcnon Mlss Sarah Drrtt has served as sponsor for many years There were no offrcers Sxnce the yearbook went to press befor h e t e 1951 electron rt was rmpossnble to l1st all members Those chosen durnnq 1950 as yunnors ne artel Joyce Benson Elaxne Cohen Buddy Hebeler Sally Lorber Frank Prerson Ann Reagan Allan Schwartz Walter Sh1fr1n Tom Teasdale Edna W1ll1am d son an jerry Wolff ilteoptan octety earned lZO p uc t1ons A po1nt represented the rough equrvalent of one hours work Membershlp entrtled one to specxal dra matrc prrvrleges Gurld leader Blandford ennmgs scrved as sponsor pornts for work done on dramanc rod Front mu jennmgs Rose klein A Schwartz Mandel, E Nxeber Sxlbergeld Elvm T g lxornbler Rubin Wolff, Goldberg B Goldman Benson, Collms, s aylor Bark mu Arnold Goodman Dxener, Zrmmerman Page Sul, Efgbf The Clunn 19y1 if n Q o ff C72 ' 51-E ' 5 7 9 .
