I Lance Vickers Carol DeMattio IN MEMORY Through the endless waters, Across the sands of time, We traveled together a journey, A myth of song and rhyme. But the journey hath now ended, You have returned from whence you came, But in memory you shall grow thither, ln each song shall be your name. Each raindrop shall remind me Of the tears which were shed to you this day, Each daisy shall be in honor of you, And a reminder that you passed this way. The sun which shone so brightly, Shall descend from us this day, But the garden in which you sowed your love, Shall never wither away. Though the waters hath divided And the sands of time have ceased to flow, We know that we shall meet again, And be together forever in the light of Heaven's' glow. by Amy Wright On March l, I98l, tragedy struck the Twin City area when Lance Vickers and Carol DeMattio passed away. Shock took its effect on all of us at Claymont, but Lance and Carol began a new life, dwelling in the House of the Lord. Words aren't enough to ex- press the capabilities that Lance possessed. He wasn't an athletic superstar, nor was he an honor student, but Lance could put a smile on the face of anyone he talked to. He was a super- star in bringing happiness not only to school, but any- where he was, be it the park, the pizza shop, or just seeing him walking down the street. Well, Lance, God took you home in a peaceful manner. and it's certain that you're making Heaven one happy place to live. No one knows why things like this happen, nor can anyone change what is the will of God. Life as we know it has ended for Carol, but a new life is just beginning for her. Her life on this earth may not have been long, but the joy she brought to every- one will be remembered by all of us for the rest of our lives. Carol, too, had that rare ca- pability to make people happy. no matter how sad they were. Her smile was infectious. and her laughter was enough to cure anyone of the blues. Thank you, Carol, for mak- ing this world a better place to be and spreading your love for life to everyone. V
