Girls Track V' l M if Girls Post 4-4 Mark After a slow start due to the rainy spring, the girls' track team posted a 4-4 season mark. A young team, composed of l senior, 4 juniors, 9 sophomores and 5 freshmen, the thin- clads placed fifth in the Senate League and in Sectionals. A total of six new school records were set. ln field events, the Lady Mustangs scored better in weight events than they ever had. Chris Rainsberg, a freshman, was a consistent scorer in discus, and junior Mitzi Cottress and freshman Susan Koppes did the same in the shot. Junior Leslie Shelley broke the school record in the high jump, setting the new standard at 5 feet even. The 800 relay team qualified to districts, setting a new school record on the way. Cheryl Belgya, Melinda Scott, Kelly Beckley and Melody Eckstein ran it in I:49.2. Sectionals also saw a record set in the l600 C4f20.l by Cheryl Belgya, Kelly Hill, Melinda Scott and Kelly BeckleyD and the 3200 CBeckley, Jane Fondriest, Karen Peck, Lisa McRobiej. The 400 also qualified to districts. ln individual events, Melody Eckstein set a school record in the 200126.75 at sectionals, and qualified to districts. Sopho- more Karen Peck set a record in the 800 12:34.45 at section- als. The ladies defeated Cambridge 39-7l, Carrollton 26-I0l, IVS 54-56 and Coshocton 42-68, while falling to Fairless 69-4I, Minerva 6052, Tuslaw 72-38 and Dover 26-I5. I. Row lg K. Beckley, M.
