I ASI Ilflf IBA IL IL The Clay Panthers opened their 1948-49 Basket yall season with a bow to the Alumni 38-34. Then came Pop Workman's Cardinals, and the second defeat of the season for the Panthers. Clay came up with victories over Walton and Normantown in quick succession. The Panthers were defeated by Gassaway, Ansted, and Summersville before thy could get back into a winning streak, Clay took the measure of Gassaway and Widen and then lost to Sissonville, Elkview twice, and Glenville before they could win again, They defeated Normantown and Widen before bowing to Walton, Glenville, Clendenin, and Sum- mersville, and then lost to Ansted in the final game of the year. They finished up with 7 wins and 14 losses.
