CARL D. BANDY Executive Head Now, more than ever before, citizens are interested in and concerned about their schools. We, as teachers, must direct this interest and con- cern into a constructive force to help improve the school. We must use the interest to help the com- munity define the basic purpose of the school. We must caution our communities not to ex- pect miracles overnightg we must help our commun- ities to understand that their schools are but one part of society and that respect for scholarship must be evident outside as well as inside the class- room. Finally, we know in a democracy that as each individual is unique, so each is of worth. The public school must never forget that in the long run the best hope for strength and for enduring peace lies in providing the highest type of educational exper- ience for all the youth of all the people. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path. ROBERT ESTEPP Supervising Principal TO THE MEMBERS OF THE GRADUATING CLASS OF 1958: You are to be congratulated upon your success thus far.
