Colonials Griissen Herr Schmutzler Abore: Peter and his American brother, Mark, study in the Sanford home. Below left: In his spare time, Peter enjoys playing football, one of his favorite American sports. Clayites welcomed Peter Schmutzler as their 1970-71 AFS student from Bamberg, Germany. During his event- ful year, Peter lived with the Ralph Sanford family and enjoyed the com- panionship of his brothers Mark, Dave and Jeff, and his sisters Kristine, Kathy, and Kelly. As a senior at Clay, Peter studied Contemporary Society, French IV, Chemistry II, Math IV, and elective English. He also partici- pated in AFS, German Club, and French Club. South Bend Progress Club Hosts Prom Last spring the Juniors broke from the annual tradi- tion of having the Junior-Senior Prom in the gym, and deeided to have it in the South Bend Progress (Hub. Mid- night in Central Park was chosen as a theme and was carried out with lanterns along the walls and a foun- tain which was purchased by the Junior Class. Reigning at the Prom on May 23 were King Joel Haney and Queen Gail Papaeh. Music was provided by Eddy Jarrett and his band. The After-Prom was located at the Niles YMCA. Many activities were provided for entertainment, including swimming and dancing. Movies were shown and The End of the Beginning provided music.
