Through Living WINNING is not only victory in the ballgamc, Or leaving with the prize in a debate meet, Or the acquisition of a new job. Winning is more . . . It is a spiritual sense, A sense you keep deep down inside Or shout to the world. Victory is felt through involvement in activities. Victory in winning a new friend. Victory in learning to conjugate to be in French, Victory in working on the steering committee. Victory in taking Easter baskets to the hospital. This feeling of victory was felt every day at Clay By students as they faced their daily life. The experiences and goals of each student Created some feeling of winning to the individual Whether he felt the inner satisfaction, Or shared his feelings with others. These feelings combined to make a memorable life For all Clay students Through Being, Achieving, and WINNING. Clay ' s Victory Bell was created as a symbol of victory and winning. With the loyal support of spirited Colonials and the rugged determination of the teams, it has been rung and rerung. Although now not frequently seen, the Victory Bell is still alive in the minds and hearts of Clayites. Winning . . . Through Sharing Winning . . . Through Learning Winning . . Foremost in the minds of proud (lla ites Was the State Baseball title. But winning did not mean the championship alone. Winning was completing the twenty continuous laps Of butterfly or crawl, Finishing the five-mile run on a windy day, Passing a football or receiving a punt In ninety degree weather or cold, drizzling rain. Winning was also getting the tip or pinning vr)ur Or pinning your opponent. Long hours of practice were involved In swinging a golf club or a tennis racquet. Often the practice involved skipping meals Or extra hours of sleep. . But Clayites were all winners When thcv knew thev had done their best. 77 Homecoming Highlights Year MIN. $EC.| ii QTR. ■!♦••• TO PLAY DOWN 1SIT0RS HOME YARDS TO GO Top score of the season. Their record was absolutely dazzling as they headed for Indianapolis and the finals of the Indiana High School base- ball tournament. Their supporters were confident. And the Clay Colonials and Coach Jim Reinebold went on to prove that every- thing said and written about them in recent weeks was the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. They are the champions of Hoosier- dom with a record of 39 victories against IF three losses and 33 straight wins on the way to the title. It is an amazing record that is likely to stand a long time, a record that bespeaks talent, splendid coaching, tenacity, discipline and all the other ingredients that go into the making of a champion. We are proud of the accomplishment of Coach Reinebold and his title holders and extend our heartiest congratula- ions. What a record! It leaves one a little breathless. i!««i Clay Baseball Champs: M. Fortunately, there are a lot of other people . . those who get Ideas, and those who listen to them and do something . . so that there ' s progress in our old world. Like a lot of American businesses, we ' ve built our whole company on new ideas. Like the total-electric home, and the all-electric school, and reducing the cost of our product while everyone else was raising theirs. A lot of our ideas came to us from young people who joined our company, and from others outside, in other industries. But the Important thing Is what we did with those ideas. And what we hope to do with more that come to us In the future. Business needs ideas. Got any? 180 m eric an fc le ctric I i- owep, V System.
