PRESIDENT'S ADDRESS CHARLES ANDRESON On behalf of the Class of 1965, I should like to welcome you, our parents, teachers, and as a class. It last class, or class, to have Day exercises ings. When we in September, friends, to our final meeting may be that we shall be the at least the next to the last the privilege of holding Class in these sumptuous surround- entered Classical High School 1962, we knew only our old junior high classmates, and it was with them that we fretted over the prospect of three- year stay. It did not take us many weeks to make new acquaintances, and We rapidly became active members of the student body. As we came to know Classical, we grew proud of her and tried, in and out of school, to act as true Classicalites. As students here we have worked hard, but, along with the work, we have had many enjoyable experi- ences that will provide pleasant memories for years to come. As we look forward to college, to the armed services, to jobs, we are conscious that we owe our parents, who have inspired us, and our teachers, who have instructed us, our deepest gratitude. They will share with us whatever our ultimate success in life. Let us now look back at the highlights of the Class of 1965. Charles Andreson

PAULA BERGIN Like Caesar's Gaul our stay on Irving Street has been divided into three parts - our sophomore, junior and senior years. Each one of these years brings back special, nostalgic memories of its own. When we first entered Classical in 1962, none of us knew very much about the substitue cafeteria at Lano's, bus tickets were only ninety cents, and the Our Father was still constitutional, Some of us expected to find hour glasses in the classrooms instead of electric clocks, but condi- tions were not nearly so bad as rumor had them, CLASS HISTORY Because we were lowly sophomores, we felt restricted to informal extra- curricular activities which included climbing the stairs to our third-floor homerooms and jaywalking on the way to the Yet not all of us re- mained in obscurity. Carol Dorfman became a celebrity when somebody started a fire with her gym suit, and we were forced to make our first great exodus into the rain. Like loyal Classicalites we attended the Senior Variety Show in March. At The Gift of Music we experi- enced a most unforgetable evening of spontaneous humor. Later in the year, Marilyn Swartz and Eric Yoffie made their dramatic debuts in the Senior Play, You Can't Take It With You. In june our class was well-represented on the honor roll. Paul Arsenault, Cynthia Asher, Anne Beard, Paula Bergin, Peter Bilizarian, Stan Greenberg, Larry Kegeles, Tom- my Mattimore, Jerry Morse, Liz Oginsky, Hank Payne, joel Rosen, and Eric Yoffie all received four A's. As the end of the school year ap- proached we steadily increased our knowledge of Tiger traditions, but we were not deemed worthy of becoming juniors until we had survived the senior rehearsals of Salitube.'i We were sustained during this week-long ordeal solely by the thought of hav- ing the entire summer to recuperate. When we returned to school in September, we were eager to move down to our second-floor homerooms. I3 Once we settled back into our scholas- tic routine, we voted for junior class officers. Charlie Andreson was elect- ed president, Cynthia Bergstedt, vice- presidentg Marylee Houle, secretaryg and Mike Backer, treasurer, With the publication of the Argus in Octo- ber Paula Bergin, Midge Chervin, Jerry Morse, Chris Nigro, Hank Payne, Joel Rosen, and Sylvia Thamel became regular members of the Liter- ary Board. Charlie Andreson and Greg Mahan were key players on our predominately senior football team which won the Class A Champion- ship. As juniors we had a preliminary encounter with the College Boards- Parts of the verbal section in the essay tease were so easy to under- stand that they might as well have been written in hieroglyphics, but some of us were unable to resist filling in all the boxes on our answer sheets. If our scores had only re- sembled our blood pressures, our worries would have been at an end. In March we forgot about the im- portance of getting 700's long enough to enjoy ourselves at the Senior Variety Show, Moments to Remember. Ringo Starr should have been there to see Alan Sherr and his shaggy-haired group swing into action. C1
