FOREWORD In the inherent nature of man is a compelling force, a force urging him ever onward to overcome obstacle after obstacle in the paths leading to his goals. The story of man- kind is one of continuous activity. Since his creation, man has gradually probed deeper and deeper into the mysterious secrets of life, he has made innumerable enigmatic ques- tions clear, understandable. He has learned how to control his environment, how to trans- mit sound through wires, how to fiy. From a chaotic muddle of superstition and fantasy, he has formed order and logic, and yet, never has he stopped at' the attainment of any one goal, never has he leaned back satisfied, content, saying: I can go no further, there is nothing left for me to discover, invent, or conquer. After each success he has begun anew - meeting the next challenge. The ultimate, indefinable goal is ever out of reach . . . but man keeps trying. I Q Q if Our life here at Classical High School represents in all its stages the eternal cycle of humanity. We, too, are striving towards a goal, we, too, meet many obstacles. We ex- perience the periods of doubtful incipiency, of growing maturity through an ever increas- ing awareness of those around us, and finally, at graduation, the pride of achievement. As freshmen, we encounter the little formless fears of every new endeavor, in our activity and participation, we gain in self-confidence and understanding, as seniors, we reach our goal with a deeper awareness of the new beginning it signifies. The cycle will repeat itself many, many times, we know how it will progress -- for we at Classical are a part of the cycleg we represent the great eternal sphere of humanity. To the banner of royal purple we're loyal . . , t 3 l Q 3 .
