AN OPEN LETTER TO THE MEMBERS OF THE FRESHMAN CLASS . . . et aliis You might have heard it couldn't be done - and yet, as you read the 1960 CADUCEUS you can realize with a justifiable sense of accomplishment and pride that you have done it - you've completed your freshman year at Classical High School. When you look back at this year in june, 1963, it will seem quite un- important and insignificant, when you are seniors, you may temporarily wish to forget that you ever were freshmen -- wish to inflate your egos with the proud boast that you never could have been anything but top men on the totem pole. But now that freshman year is mighty important to all of you - and rightly so - for you have become oriented, you now, so to speak, belong. No longer do you search for Room 21 in its logical position next to Room 20 Cif you do, wait until next year and head for the basementl. No longer do you barge through the study hall during fourth period on your way from Room 14 to Room 16 fthe shortest distance between two points is a straight line - but the safest is via the second floorb . . . you have, we hope, cashed in your Sep- tember elevator passes and resigned yourselves to using the stairways Cand next year please make a conscious effort not to bump, jan poke, or otherwise molest the stalwart members of the traflic squadl. You have, of course, become acquainted with the vital statistics of a Classical education - C is passingg B is College recommendation, A is sometimes im- possible. You're late at 8:30g dismissed at 2: 30. First lunch is a late breakfast- third an early dinner. The lockers for third floor home-rooms are on the first floor - naturally.
