Foreword In the Space Age of 1968, take it day by day, Mr. Montag- na's famous maxim, seems to be good advice. Accordingly, in the 1968 edition of the BLUE AND WHITE, the staff has tried to depict the day by day life of the students at Classical High School. Almost directly across the street from Classical High School stands the statue of Deacon Samuel Chapin, whose image is the symbol of the Springfield Public School System. His figure appears also on our class rings, bookcovers, and posters all over the school. Deacon Samuel Chapin has therefore been chosen to appear on the cover of the BLUE AND WHITE. Since the school year begins with the principals, counselors, secretaries, and school personnel who are with Classical students all through the year, so does the 1968 edition of the BLUE AND WHITE. With fall come the freshmen, football, and fall activities. Winter brings on awareness of the juniors, holiday preparations, clubs, and exciting winter sports. Spring is the magical season with its joys, memories, and long last looks. The story of the school year gradually unfolds, always to be locked in the pages of this 1968 edition of the BLUE AND WHITE. 3
