Every artist was first an amateur. Emmisox The art department is in full swing: sulxject studying, scribble sketching. and silk screening. ART There is a place in the Classical art program for every stu- dent whether his interests lie in mathematics, science, or the languages. The main purpose of the art classes is to give stu- dents varied art experiences. Each successive course utilizes the knowledge a student has gained from previous classes. Among the courses offered are School Arts Publicity, Basic Art, Advanced Art and Research, and Photography. Every year the art department through the Arts and Crafts Club makes and paints the props for Carousel and posters for pub- licity. Em-:RsoN Typing Department Miss Dorothy Porter has done outstanding work in putting out several classes of good typists each year. Several good reasons present themselves to students for taking typing. Long English composi- tions and term papers can he typed in less than half the time it would take to write them out in long:- hand. Typewrilten papers are more legible too. As an elective. typing is essential to most students and is a skill that can be used for a lifetime.
