Handling details are Marti Rupe, Janette Cobb, Judy Chechovsky, Lynda Glidewell, Lida Leith, and Mrs. Tilsner, The ORBIT staff is composed of juniors and seniors who are attempting to compile a history of the school year through the ORBIT. Planning of the yearbook begins early in the summer. The content of the book is planned by the editor, who assigns sections to the staff members. Students in the class participate in two assemblies annually and conduct the ORBIT queen election. They assist with sales drives, distribution of year- books, and picture-taking projects. Some students attend the OIPA meeting in the fall during which the results of the yearbook judging are announced. Deadline . . . MRS. SIBYL TILSNER BA, MT, Central State 'N D 155 g l? Fi 3 -ii MISS MARY NEEL MRS. ROENA SMITH BS MA, Northwestern University BA, OCW BA, OCU Department Head frzglish .75 Zvrcver A good background in all phases of English is helpful in all aspects of life. lt is necessary for a person to have the knowledge of his own language and to be able to apply it correctly whether that person is speaking or writing. This is one of the functions of Classen's English department. Various works by English and American authors are pre- sented for the student to study. These exemplify all types and levels of writings. Expression on the part of the individual is also stressed through the development of his ability to write creatively and to express himself orally. This year the advanced senior English class had several discussions of great books, while other classes had both oral hook reports and panel discussions. Mrs. Tilsner's English Literature lesson is being wasted on several of her students It seems that something else has caught their attention. 2 ref sa! VM as MRS. KATHLEEN SPEED
