Tom, What ARE you reading? Expres- sions like that don't come from reading a Government book! Especially in Mr. Petree 's class. You should follow studi- ous David 's example. Mr. Dalke, these are not football play- ers. This is your social studies classg shou1dn't they be learning more about the geography of the world, not of the football field? SDDIAL STUDIES DEPARTMENT ARDUND THE WDRLDIN ISD DAYS During each Classen student's schooling he finds himself enrolled at some time or another in a social studies class. No longer are these classes composed of boring facts of half-for- gotten happenings in the history of the world. Today these classes are designed to acquaint students with the happenings of the present time, and to inform them of events in the past which are responsible for these. The classes offered in this department are Government, Economics, Oklahoma History, Civics, World History, American History, and Psychology. Social studies classes today are every bit as interesting as a world cruise. During the approximately 180 days spent in class each year a social studies student may indeed go around the world ! But what would classes be without teachers? Guiding each student in his world cruise is a fine staff of teachers headed by Mr. James Petree. They are Miss Lorena Milam, Mrs. Estella Stinson, Mr. Bill Hendon, Mr. Phillip Dalke, and Mr. R. L. Ogden. Our thanks to these teachers for an interesting tour of the world, past and present! This apparatus is one of the several tests taken by a driver's edu- cation student. Mr. Milburn 's psychology class uses it here to demonstrate the time it takes a person 's foot to be moved from the accelerator to the brake. You ask what does psychology have to do with driver's test? It's easy--they are studying the biological foundations of behavior.

ll ww W , umm E1 F, wif? ' gr rs tii t til Baby Huey Ogden seems a little camera shy. No, No, Mr. Ogden, don't jump! With an ancient instructor such as Mr. Ogden all the easier to study world history. Marshall, are you catching or pushing? Mr. Petree is shown here standing behind his industrious class. Notice how busy every member of the class seems. That is, all except Sharon Honea. She seems to be day- dreaming--get to work, Sharon. .sg . , This is a Psychology class? Mr. Milburn seems to be getting the bad deal here. Maybe the teacher is abused in this class. Monty Lamb, and John Bryan seem to be taking advantage of this seance. Hang loose fellows! 27
