Dedication May I have your attention for the aft- ernoon announcements. This phrase and the voice that goes with it are very famil- iar at Classen. The face that goes with this voice is seen by Classen students at every turn. Within the man to whom this face and voice belong is one of the most gen- erous of hearts. Making the announce- ments is probably the least of this man's responsibilities, but it is for them that he is best known. It is the other duties linked with the office of vice-principal which bring more responsibility than many peo- ple could handle. This role is vital to the success of any school. Needless to say, this man plays a major part in Classen's success. To this man-for his understand- ing, his unfailing help at all times, his generosity, and above all, his undying de- votion to our Classen High School-we, the students, dedicate the 1959 ORBIT to Dr. Bill Lillard. Acknowledgement Another year has gone by, another ORBIT has been placed in the hands of the Classen stu- dent body. We have tried to record accurately for you the history of I958 and l959 at C.H.S. The success of this year's ORBIT rests on sev- eral very able shoulders. Our first thank you goes to the CLASSEN LIFE. Without the use of their cam-era we should have been lost. Next in line are Sue Hoisington and Mark Birming- ham. Photography is half of our book and these two made this half as great as it is. Know- ing we had Cindy Cartmell - our sports- minded, comedian, business manager-work- ing for the ORBIT was always a reassuring thought. Clever Copy Editor Alice Sullivant is also editor of the CLASSEN LIFE. Jann Low- ther, John Bryan, and Sally Sage took time out from ORBIT duties to publish a student direc- tory. The art work on the directory cover was done by Bill Murphy, and to these four people we extend a warm thank you. Barbara Bryan handled the senior section this year with the hand of an expert. Sandy Connelly gave Cindy Cartmell a hand an the girls' sports and Tommy Rowles turned out the entire boys' sports section with help from Steve Fisher on copy. Paul Ruscha did our art work for the club section which Linda Casey helped organize. The teachers have cooperated to the utmost. Mr. Fleming, Dr. Lillard, Mrs. Booher and Mrs. Hines helped us whenever we needed them. The staff: Becky Ogilvie, Peggy Prag, Sherran Woody, Anne Johnson, Mary Sherman, Sharon Fewkes, Lu Nelms, Nancy Seaton and Diane Neyland were always at hand when needed. We can't find words sincere enough to ex- press our gratitude and appreciation to every- one who at anytime or in anyway helped with this book. Even with all our troubles, it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of our lives. We only hope that each one of you enjoy what you will get out of this book a frac- tion as much as we have enjoyed what we put into it. We extend our deepest thanks to each and everyone of you. Our Classen High School Classen, a dominating building in the Okla- homa City High School system, is a grand building, full of glory. It has been great for thirty-nine years, Although our stay here is short, we hope when we leove we can take a small part of her greatness and glory with us. She has offered us academic achievement and leadership training, and along with these a lasting desire to serve our nation and world. Thank you, Classen, for what you have given us. Our memories for you will be of honor, in- tegrity, steadfastness, and loyalty.
