YOU NEVER KNOW what will develop in the darkroom. Mark Birmingham and Sue Hoising- ton as ORBIT photographers spend much of their time in the darkroom . . . Ahemmm . . . developing pictures. This year the photog- raphers were handicapped by the theft of the ORBIT camera. wmg. i ONE OF THE JOBS of the yearbook staff is to publish the STU- DENT DIRECTORY. This responsibility was given to the sixth hour class. Jann Lowther, John Bryan, and Sally Sage are taking heed of the sign behind them. We are proud of this year's di- rectory. Journalism Dept. Does Publications The Journalism Department is composed of the two school publications, CLASSEN LIFE and ORBIT. CLASSEN LIFE has won more national honors than any other city school publication. lt is published bi-monthly and sponsors the annual Man of Dis- tinction Contest. Miss Dorothy Butler teaches the Beginning and Advanced Journalism Classes. ORBIT, a review of the Classen year, is published by the classes in Yearbook. Mrs. Jeane Williams has Yearbook Classes fifth and sixth hours. The sixth hour class also publishes the Student Directory. This year's ORBIT could not have been published but for the generosity of CLASSEN LIFE'S staff in plac- ing its camera at the disposal of the ORBIT photog- raphers. BEMUSED CLASSEN LIFE chiefs talk with their adviser, Miss Dorothy Butler. From left to right are Vina Windes, Editor Alice Sullivant, Mary Lou Braddy, Sue Stewart, and Miss Butler. l E i i l CINDY CARTMELL is checking to see if anyone is looking before she borrows some money. Cindy, you know that money belongs to the ORBIT. Cindy is kept busy with the duties of business manager. 28

MARTHA MILLER is showing the students of Wesley Beck's American History class who is boss as she takes over his classes for a day. Teacher-Student Day was designed to show students the everyday duties ofa teacher. SHERRY HAMILTON leads another classroom discussion as a regular part of the Economics and Government class. The class listens attentively as she expounds on her vast knowledge of government. 27 THERE IS NO QUESTION in anyone's mind as to who is boss in James Petree's classes. He makes it clear to all his students. Mr. Petree is head of the department and teaches American History, and Economics and Government.
