Science Courses Cffer Advantages ln this day and age it is very important to study science, for it is becoming increasingly im- portant in the world. A good percentage of jobs now require some practical understanding of science. With the advancement of satellites, mis- siles, and atomic power, we are in need of more scientists to invent better rockets and perhaps even one that will carry a human to the n'ioon. Science Department teachers and. their sub- jects are: Mrs. Marilyn Parsons, Biology .and Ad- vanced Biology, Mrs. Neva Chelf, Chemistry, Mrs. Dorothy Frosh, General Science, Mrs. Beverly Key, Physiology. HISTORY CLASSES use maps and globes to a great ex- tent in their daily course of study. Johnny Tucker and Nadele Mitchell appear to be interested in their globe study, although their thoughts are probably tar away. PSYCHOLOGY STUDENT Chuck Seward is practicing his couchside manner on tellow classmate Mary Lou Braddy. Mary Lou is probing deep into her past in search of clues that may help Chuck in his psychoanalysis. Social Studies Dept Takes All Students The Social Studies Department is one un- der which every student at Classen High School studies before his graduation. The histories ot our state, country, and the world are consid- ered important in a proper secondary school education. Included in the Social Studies Depart- ment is a great variety of courses taught by eleven of Classen's capable faculty. Ably heading the department is James Petree, chairman. Students are ottered courses in American History, World History, Economics and Gov- ernment, Oklahoma History and Civics, ahd a course combined as Psychology and Sociology. Television was used as a teaching aid again this year by Miss Lorena Milam in the Oklahoma History semester other course. Eco- nomics and Government was ottered at Clas- sen tor the first time this year. All courses offered by Mr. Petree's de- partment prove invaluable to any student pre- paring tor a college education. l TELEVISION is becoming very popular as o teaching aid, Carol Ferguson prepares for class while Sandra McQuary changes channels to something more interesting until teacher, Miss Lorena Milam, returns to the room.
