N i s CLOTHING CLASSES have had a busy year. The seventh grade girls have learned to use the sewing machine, making aprons and pleated skirts. The eighth grade classes learned to use commercial patterns, making a dress or shirt and blouse. The other classes have made everything from Bermuda shorts to party dresses, but most girls chose to add shirts, blouses, or dresses to their school wardrobe. The wonderful odors that you smell when passing in the hall past room 319 really are an indication of the good things young cocks at Classen get to fix in the homemaking classes. The seventh grade girls prepared the fancy cookies and delicious brownies which they served their mothers at a Valenf tine Tea, February 8th, and the foods class Qhome economics llj will long remember the St. Pat's buffet dinner which they served. So will all those who smelled the pot roast cooking at lunch time. Seventh grade homemaking students spent twelve weeks studying family living. This includes the encouragement of good grooming, learning some first aid and home nursing, learning to care for their personal belongings, studying and practicing wise use of their allowance. These girls enjoy keeping a good grooming chart, having a play school for children, and entertaining their mothers and teachers with teas. 130-
