I? stir in about 60 top quality teac ers- AS WE GLANCE through the pages portraying this year at Classen High School, we recall a little of every day life-the clatter between classes, the cramming for tests, the mad rush to lunch, pushing for a place in line, school parties and assemblies. Thoughts do not linger on the eight-thirty to three-thirty day, but turn instead to the small incidents, the new and unexpected experiences that are all a part of high school life. Memories are numerous: of walking that special girl to her locker, of meeting our dreamboats in the library, of sitting next to him or her in class. We remember various students--the star athlete, the science wizard, the math genius, besides the wise- crackers, the pop-offs, the gumchewers, the teasers. XVQ think of the pranksters who were always baiting the teachers, hoping to contribute humor rather than har- mony to classwork. They believed that they were really putting something over, but if we think for a second, didn't the teacher usually return the favor? This year will be remembered for other reasons- the athletic activities to which we point with pride, the outstanding band with their snappy uniforms and clever routines, our favorite teachers, the chorus, the orchestra, plans for the Classen Classicsf, and the many achieve- ments of every department. XVe recall changes. The voices of the junior high have joined the upperclassmen's, adding greatly to our spirit at athletic events. Catchy cards were prepared to stimulate school spirit on game days. NVe adopted the slogans Clip Cards, Calm Cyclones, Bounce Bears, and lirase Eaglesf, Many students eagerly decorated themselves and their friends with these cards in all sorts of patterns. This year the fifth hour class was lengthened to an hour and ten minute period in order to allow time for assemblies. At pep assemblies spirit soared in the yelling contest between junior and senior high. The slight tinge of purple to Susie Harkey's smiling face when everyone

opes, and cfream.s- Classen has grown in several ways. This year the enrollment is well over twelve hundred students, about a third more than last year. Vine new teachers have joined the staff. .-X television wing has been constructed and boasts regularly scheduled educational programs which attract visitors from all over the country. Our school building will hold a place in our mem- ories. Possibly the motto, Qui non proficit, deficit, which is ahove the main door, will be foremost in our memories. I'ei-liaps the trophies tlnotigliotit the lviiilding, or the inconveniences caused bv the workmen repairing the stairs and remodeling other parts of the building, will be our first thought of Cllassen High School ten vears from now. XY'hatever it mav he, it will arouse us to the realilation that this has heen the greatest vear ever at a really great school.
