I NANCY JTRICKLER Sporty ueen Believe it or not, 1953-S4 saw a new procedure introduced at Classen! Instead of having a queen for each sport, as has been the custom, an A11- Sports Queen was named. Nancy Strickler won this honor. Phil Easlon was again the successful campaign manager. The theme of the coronation assembly October 2, was 'QAlice in Classenlandf, Voting for Sports Queen was done on the basis of activity tickets. Stu- dents who paid in full for tickets were allowed to cast five hundred votes for the candidate of their choice. Installment payers got fifty votes for each payment made. Special adult tickets were introduced this year. Each rated 850 votes. If the buyer had a choice of candidates, he east his votes, otherwise the seller could cast his votes for the candidate he favored. Queen nominees were Barbara Burbridge, Deborah Ireland, Donna Law- rence, Carol Saulsberry, and Nancy. -gs

HELEN .Y T RA U CH Meteor Queen Meteor Pep Club elected Helen Strauch queen for 1953-54. Results of this election, which is a club actvity, were announced at the annual Meteor Christmas dance. Helen's co-candidates were Jane Fellingham, Marsha Huffman, Debor- ah Ireland, and Janyce Shorbe. President Jerry Karam presented Helen a white jacket inscribed with her name, title, and the club's insignia. An orchid, the blue and gold paddle, and the customary kiss concluded the installation ceremony. ,271
