BOB WEBBER Student Council President Elected as a junior to fill Classenls most important office, Bob Webber has done a fine job this year as school leader. Chosen by the student body in an election last April, Bob has proved his leadership ability by going as Classen representative to Europe as an exchange student on the American Field Service plan, by being elected Boy of the Month, and by being Junior Rotarian. Leadership is not new to Bob. He was Student Council president in junior high, president of the sophomore class at Classen and a candidate for junior class president. An outstanding student, Bob is a member of the Honor Society. Other candidates for Student Council president were Bob Howell, Joe Jones, Paul Schwartz, and Hammer Hough. 122-

BARBARA B URBRIDGE Orbit Queen Typical Teen was the slogan used by Barbara Burbridge, senior, mem- ber of Orbit class first semester, and chosen 1954 yearbook queen. An assembly December 9 witnessed her coronation. Phil Easlon, her campaign manager, presented her crown. The assembly, An Evening In Paris, was proclaimed by many to be the best in the history of Orbit. It was under the direction ofthe Orbit staff. Campaign activities for Orbit Queen spare nothing. Drab halls take on the appearance of a state fair midway. Posters, booths, lapel buttons, slo- gans, yells, songs, and speeches go into the making of a gala, as well as hec- tic, campaign week. Orbit Queens are nominated by the entire school through advisories. Students who purchase a yearbook may cast five votes. One vote is given if the student has had his picture made for the book. Candidates were Barbara, Deborah Ireland, Donna Lawrence, Carol Saulsberry, and Debbie Williams. -23-
