Mrs. Clara Alley, secretary in charge of attendance. and Mrs. Laura Haley, secretary to the principal. comprise the main office staff. In the morning Mrs. Alley signs in the tardies and begins compiling the list of absences from each class. During every hour the oflice assistants collect the class cards and record the absences. Mrs. Haley assists Mr. Taylor in discharging the duties of school principal and receives the visitors to the school. The office of registrar is ably exercised by a relatively recent addition to Classen's ex- .. . ecutivc staff, Mr. Duane Weinert. Mr. Wein- ert has. as his main duty, the keeping of the records for each student. In his advisory capacity he aids the returning veteran and the incoming student in choosing his curricu- lum in order to satisfy requirements for grad- uation. A very important feature of Mr. Weinert's annual program is the preparing of 49991 a library of college catalogues for the conveni- ence ofthe student. ff wry

You cut your linger, you lose your books. you fall down three flights of stairs and don't feel too well-that means the clinic! Mrs. Charlotte Stringer and the girls who assist her are always ready to help the student in all such small but important matters. Add to its surgical ventures and lost and found department a certain amount of record keeping and mimeographing of varied material. and you have a very busy office. School ervice Mrs. Faye Tucker, extolls the merits of ri book to an interested student, while three busy' study hall members form a setting representative of the library. I want a book, is the cry of every student who approaches Mrs. Faye Tuck- erg and Mrs. Tucker has some six-thou- sand books from which to choose. She is the pleasant librarian who patiently finds books for the frantic student the day before reports are due. Mrs. Tucker has been librarian at Classen since early in l944. and is gradually becoming au- customed to the vagaries of the average highschool student. Having a varied col- lection of modern and classic literature. the Classen library is unusually com- plete for a highschool library. The Library assistants are: Virginia Edwards, Pat Owens.
