Typical of the English Department is the picture at the upper right in which George Kann, seniorg lean Put- nam, sophomoreg and Ioan Irwin, jun- ior. are absorbed in the works of the many immortal writers represented in their respective textbooks on English literature, Shakespeare, and American literature. A very special guest of the History Department was Dr. Lorna Langmore in the center right who lives in Cape- town, South Africa where her parents have a hospital. She came to- the United States to take a chiropractor's course, and stopped off at Classen to relate to lvliss Blanche Paulys history class some of the incidents she has ex- perienced on the Dark Continent, which she is describing to Virginia Ann Cobb and Loretta Swirczynski. 'S no Enthusiasts of the Math Depart- ment constructed a giant slide rule to operate on a blackboard to enable the whole room to study the same problem at once. At the left Virginia Brashear discusses the use of the slide rule while Fred Ray and Ioy Gleason verify the results from their books,

Wim Precision in tone and timing are the secret of Mr. Chester Francis's success as director of the A Cappella choir and head of the Vocal Music Department. At the upper left he drills mem- bers of one of the girls' glee clubs.
