g .,. V n rt Department Such varied and numerous uses of art have been developed that it now offers many vocational opportunities. Since it is used extensively for commercial means, art is no longer considered an impractical frill, and art education takes its place along with other vocational courses. Art courses today offer training in fashion design, figure drawing, inter- ior decoration, crafts, and commercial design, as well as painting. All types of art work, especially crafts, may become a pleasant and useful hobby. Art education is also an important factor in raising the general standards of taste, for it stimulates a desire for the finer and more beautiful things of life, and teaches the student to appreciate art and beauty wherever it is found, thus increasing his enjoyment of life.
