A knowledge of other languages enriches the student's vocabulary, since many English words are de- ,-fvv-ww rived from them. I lHl'NIl fQ iii The math department sets its goal on the objectives put forth by the high school course of study in mathematics, Two of these objectives are: To teach the student to develop the habit of precise thought and lucid expression and to teach the student the mathe- matics of every day life. Courses in the math department are plane and solid geometry, elementary, advanced and college algebra, plane trigonometry, slide rule, senior arithmetic and elementary engineering.
