NVrinl-:le came licrc from llartlesvillc where he had been superintendent for eight years. Both his daughters, Charlotte and Geraldine, are out- standing Classen students. He has promoted various improve- ments in our school including the allbschool parties held in the building and approving an additional industrial unit for boys. He sends the following message to the members of the class of ioqiz Please accept nn' sincere congratulations upon the achieve- ment ol' this milestone in your educational career. ln general, l :un sure that you now lools hacls upon your high school days as a joyous period when your teachers and your patents earnestly strove to endow you with a knowledge and an understanding of high ideals and endearing values. Ira W. Baker . Uri 1 ieipul lra W, Baker, self-styled Hcountry boy, has been Classen's principal for eight years. Never lacking in pep and vitality, Mr. Baker has the rc- markable reputation of being able to be in a dozen places at one time. His hail fellow well met attitude toward everyone maltes him lil-ted by all. Wlieii he gets serious and reprimands a young delinquent, it is effective, and yet due to his straight- forward kindly manner he also makes a friend. Born in Colorado and reared in Kansas, he was graduated from high school in Independence, Kansas. He received his A. B. from Kansas State Teachers' college, Emporiag B, S. at Kansas State college, hlanhattan, lvl. A. at the Universitv of Chicagog and has done further study at A. K lVl., O. U., C0- lumbia university, and the University of Southern California. He served as principal at Harding for eight years before coming here. NVe students ltnow hir. Baker as a real friend. S. at 0. lcl., and toolt graduate study at the University of lowa. He was principal of the Cainargo high school, superintendent at Scil- ing and lindsay, and vice-principal of Capitol llill junior high school before coming here. - x -,J L4
