Cheering other people s plays Not just once, but all the days. Doing the very best you can With every task and every plan. Being silent when words would hurt, Politeness when others are curt. Turn deaf ears when the scandal flows, But sympathetic for another's woes. Loyalty when duties call. Courage when disasters fall. Patience when the hours are long, Bubbling laughter and a voice of song. Silence in the time of prayer, Understanding for deep despair. Happiness, life, and nothing less, Spells success... Byron Bean 102 School Started September 2 School started with the usual activities: outside pep rallies, undergraduate award assembly, organizations assembly, and the county fair. Senior Melonie English cheered the Tigers. Award winning Drill Team warmed up to do a high kick. The Homecoming Queen nominees rode in the lair parade CompHmanls of 104 KINGFISHER — MASTER MOLDERS, INC. Spirit Week started with a bon- fire at Wal-Mart Shopping Center. Boxes were brought to the parking lot in stock trailers, cars, pick ups and a diesel truck. It was a close contest as to who had the largest stack of boxes, but the seniors and freshmen were decided to be the winners. The senior football play- ers got to light the fire. ANNONA MANUFACTURING COMPANY 105 Bonfire Melanie and Phillip had on their over-alls. It was nice to get to wear hats in class. The first day of Spirit Week was Sock Day. It rained and all the socks had to be covered with shoes. It continued with Sack Day, Hat Day, Over-all Day and ended with Blue-White Day and the pep rally downtown. 106 PETTY’S NURSERY CLARKSVILLE FLORIST R R QUALITY OUTLET 107 On Blue-White Day there was an assembly in the auditorium at 8:30. This was the beginning of Quiet Day. There was whooping, holler- ing and stomping. (It was all fun except for those who saw the bal- cony sway 6 inches.) After the spirit jug was capped, there was total silence. Teachers wrote assignments on the board — no one said a word. The spirit jug was uncapped at the downtown pep rally. u Football Sweethearts Melonie English and Shanta Pearce were presented during the assembly. Melonie got a kiss from Michael Dick- son and Shanta from Reed Cagle. The senior football players indicated we're 1. As Reed Cagle capped the spirit jug. there was silence. The auditorium emptied qui- etly and quickly. Compliments of 108 DAWSON DAWSON Nobody minded the heat as they marched downtown. Spirit Week awards were given out. The student body — led by the football players — walked downtown. As the spirit jug was uncapped, a loud roar came from the crowd. It had been a long, long quiet day. As the alma mater was played, thoughts of the coming victory over Idabel was on everyone’s mind. The “Roar” was an outgrowth of an unit of study in a junior English class. The class was studying advertising, promotion and public- ity. Excitement was created throughout the school and com- munity for weeks with the mys- tery of the Roar. The football fans at the District play off game between Clarksville and Pittsburgh witnessed the arrival of a Super Tiger — the Roar. Dr. Muthappa and Mr Bowers inspected the mysterious phone booth Mr Muthappa said. “It has a heart beat. (0 o cc • •'V • ■' ___ The Roar'’ — symbol of Tiger strength and power a The battle is on!
