Clarksvilie High School f Clgrksville,,Tg as We Did It Our Way! And now the end is near And we face the final curtain. But of this thing, we are certain. We've lived a year that’s full. We’ve traveled many highways, But of this thing, we are certain We did it our way. There were times When the end was uncertain. Yet, through it all We did it our way. “Regrets,” yes, we’ve had a few But not enough to mention. We did what we had to do. And did it all without resentment 2 During our special year. We had to plan each minute, hour, day, and week. We've loved, laughed and cried We've had our share of winning and losing. And through these times. Along the way. We did it our way. Looking back it seems quiet amusing; But, we can say. We did it our way. We Did It Our Way! For what is a person To say the things he truly feels If he can’t be himself. And stand for what is real. It must be said: We took the victories and defeats And regardless. We did it our way. 4 In Memoriam Roger Lampard 1963-1978 Despite a heart condition. He lived a life that was full And did it his way. 5 We Did It Our Way! 6 Personalities Homecoming Queen Nominees and Escorts Phyllis Taylor Robert Daniels Carney Williamson Sammy Garrison Beverly Shavers Lloyd Graves 9 10 11 12 Juniors FAVORITES Alton Peek Susan Collins MOST ATTRACTIVE Danny O'Brian Mary Pylant 13 v Sophomores MOST ATTRACTIVE Michael Dickson Cindy Garrison j FAVORITES Tommy Doolittle Shunda Williams 14 IS 16 Boy and Girl State Representatives Wade Brown and Barney Luke Marsha Brantley and Dharla Jones Key Club Beau and Sweetheart Football Sweethearts Kevin Higgins Michelle Pettiet Dharla Jones Cynthia Edwards We Did It Our Way! The majorettes and Drill Team showed off their new ‘steps, and the band played their new tunes. Clubs entered decorated cars this year. Many hours of training and grooming are spent in getting a show animal ready for fairs. But after the work was done, there was time for fun. Treva Lee r Richard Thompson, Clay Harvey and Shirley Mowery The Drill Team became Cheerleaders. The Patriot’s dressing room at half time was a disaster. The score was 100 0 in favor of the Tigers. 60 Friday Afternoon Pep Rallies Spirit Week Spirit Week was a busy time at CHS. So many things happened! ‘'Overall Day,” Sock Day, Hat Day,” and Blue and White Day added to the fun. The bonfire at the lake was a success. The downtown pep rally was well attended. The 20 to 7 defeat of the Idabel Warriors was a perfect ending for a Homecoming Week. Mike Noles, a disc |ockey from Paris, provided the music and light show. Music from soul to rock was played. They came early, stayed late, and drank gallons and gallons of punch. -V Student Council Assembly The Student Council thought it would be a great idea to show off just a few of the talented stu dents. One Friday morning, gathered in the audi- torium, they proved that CHS should be proud of the student body. It was proclaimed a “Great Success.” Steve. Blaine, and Lance demonstrate fresh man humor Greg Dawson. President of Student Council; Mr Tucker, emcee, and Cindy Garrison Disco Dancing — Billy Backus and Carney Williamson Leigh. Lisa, and Greg sang ' Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. ■ Fradonna Duren sang If Ever I See You Again.” L Student Council relieved at the end! We Did It Our Way! 1979 Seniors June 1 was a warm, humid, sticky day. At one o’clock a heavy mist started to fall. But, to the seniors who came to pick up their rings the day was beautiful. They came dressed in everything from cowboy hats to caps, from cut off jeans and tube tops to dressy clothes. They came in every imagin- able means of transportation — from jeeps, to pickups, to cars. Some evern brought their friends. The day was hot, humid and rainy — it was a beautiful day — it was the day the 1979 seniors picked up their rings. Mat1 74 1979 Seniors Ordering Class Rings The next best thing to picking up your senior ring is ordering it. When a junior orders his ring, he realizes he has almost enough credits to grad- uate. There is something about that day that makes you stand a little taller. You realize that you are nearing a major milestone in your life. 76 Senior Pep Rally Homecoming Queen Nominees Senior cheerleaders and sponsors were presented gifts. For seniors each year is the same — but it is different! There were rings to be ordered and then picked up. There were class yells to be selected. This year's (like many in the past) had some blank words: “We Raise He-, We Do It Fine, Cause We're the Class of 79. Important events for seniors take place in Friday afternoon pep rallies. The Homecom- ing Queen nominees were announced. At the last pep rally gifts, kisses and tears flowed. Last of all was the senior circle _ some laughed and some cried. Whether a senior laughed or cried, he realized this is it! This is his last pep rally and his only senior circle. Each year is the same — but it is different! Class of 79 Graduation will be June 1 — one year from the day the Seniors got their rings. It has been a good year; it has been a busy year; ,t has been a short year. But it will soon be over. There will be other senior classes at CHS who order invita tions, who pay for caps and gowns and who are measured for caps and gowns — but there will never be another Class of 1979. 78 Senior Honors and Accomplishments SCOTT BAGWELL All-Region Choir, I in Solo in Choir, Auto Mechanics BRODY BAIRD B Honor Roll, FFA, Student Council Rep., Key Club MARSHA BRANTLEY Key Club President, Girls' State Rep., FTA, NHS RENEE BRAY T Steppers, TALA, Key Club, OEA, Parliamentary Team MICHAEL WAYNE BROOKS FFA WADE BROWN NHS, Key Club, Boys' State Rep., Who's Who BILLY CARSON Key Club, FFA Officer, Lone Star Farmer Degree ROSEANN CAVINESS OEA, Cheerleader, Drill Team,' NHS JONNY CHAMPE Football, FFA, Auto Mechanics GREG DAWSON Student Council Pres., Cheer- leader, Chorale, Library Assistant' ' HENRY DOCKINS Basketball, All District 2nd Team, Building Trade, T-Step- per Beau BETH DOUGLAS DECA, Band, FTA.
