THE HERMAN AND ANNA KIRSCHNER AND THE HUB SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION. INC. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kirschner, founders of the Hub Department Store in Clarks- ville. established the Herman and Anna Kirschner and the Hub Scholarship Foundation, Inc., to express their appreciation for the patronage of the citizens of Red River County. The Foundation provides two $1, 000 scholarships annually to assist two students, a grad- uating senior of Clarksville High School and a graduating senior of Cheatham High School, who are capable of scholastic achievement and who are interested in attending college. These scholarships will be awarded as long as the Hub continues in business in Clarksville. They are to be used for tuition, room, and board and will be paid directly to the college. They also provide $25 per semester for books, which will be paid sep- arately. The recipients must enter college the first year after graduation and must com- plete the use of the scholarship in a period not to extend four years. In the event a student marries or fails to satisfy scholastic or other requirements of the college he chooses, he will forfeit his right to the scholarship. All graduating seniors of the above named schools, who have done all of their high-school work in their respective schools, who are single, who are of good charac- ter, and who need financial assistance to attend college, are eligible to make applica- tion for these scholarships. Trent Dehoney, who received the Hub Scholarship in 1959, completed one year of college work in Paris Junior College. He is now a sophomore at East Texas State Col- lege in Commerce. Patsy Petty, a freshman in Paris Junior College, is the second student from Clarks- ville High School to be awarded the Hub Scholarship. TRENT DEHONEY PATSY PETTY
