Off with his baby clothes, get him in pants, Feed him on brain foods and make him advance. Hustle him, soon as he's able to walk, Into a grammar schoolg cram him with talk. Fill his poor head full of figures and facts, Keep on a-jamming them in till it cracks. Once boys grew up at a rational rate, Now we develop a man while you wait, Rush him through college, compel him to grab Of every known subject a dip and a dab. Get him in business and after the cash, All by the time he can grow a mustache. Let him forget he was ever a boy, Make gold his god and its jingle his joy. Keep him a-hustling and clear out of breath, Until he wins--nervous prostration and death. Nixon Waterman JR. Donald Humphrey also went out for football but he was sick when the picture was taken. The Clarksville Tigers started on the road to District Championship when they defeated Deport 31-0. After this splendid start they ran up a 12-0 victory over Cooper, a Z5-O victory over Commerce, and a 46-Ovictory over Honey Grove. This record was unusual because we were not scored upon in any district game, and only in one district play did an apponent c r o s s our Z0 yard line. Also this was the second consecutive year we have won district championship. We lost only two games, and our boys played exceptionally well during the entire season, even though we were outweighed in every game. This year was the last year for several outstanding players. Several of the boys were chosen for all district teams, and jess Stiles was w a s chosen on the 4th all st at e team. These Z9 boys and th ei r splendid coach w o rked hard from the middle of August to the end of the season. We of the Annual Staff of Clarksville High School wish to congratulate the Tigers for their fine performance in th e field of athletics and we hope that the team of next year will be as successful as the last two have been. We are very proud of the Social Committee fo r the wonderful dances that they have given us thi s year. I am sure that none of us will ever forget the Sadie Hawkins Dance , Nov. 7, at 7:30. They had many cut e ideas for the dance. For instance, they had cake walks, and also boys throwing their shoes in a pile and girls getting a shoe and trying to find the owner so that they could be partners for the next dance. Everyorie got a big laugh whentha 9,-rne Tak- ing A Trip was played. The program consisted ofthesethree son 52 Temp- tation , Feuden' and Fighting ,and Ufuj4ertaker . Everyone had splendid time at this dance, especially the boys because all expenseswere paid by the girls. On Dec. 19, we had a Christmas Formal. The decoiations thi s year were especially pretty. On the cu rtain written in big letters wa s Merry Christmas. In the center of the gym, there was a big silver Christmas tree with blue lights all over it. Han gin g from the rafters wa s a big Christmas Package and all wondered what was in it. At the beginning of the 15th dance it was opened and balloons went everywhere. There were beautiful decorations along the sides of the gym. I'm sure that none of the Seniors will ever forget this dance since it was their last Christmas Formal in C.H.S. We a re also proud of theteachers of this organization because several times after thefoot- ball games the students would want t o go to the gym and dance, and youcould always depend on these teachers to come and chaperon. Yes,we are indeed grateful to this organization for giving us such wonder- ful dances. This yearthey have given several unusual dances. The Stag Dance and The Sock Hop were giv en in February and March. Both of these dances were a success. They wouldn't have been a success if it had not been forthe cooperation of the Social Committee. ffiQDCUAD1 SEPT 3 SQPT I3 ang. 29 5C HOOL Brand bJenT Spmmsh A STHRTGD To Idffibal, Thmmlf Svppeli Thou. 5 71-Q-Q. 7 'fwdlf Z5 ChoF,HL Club Smdzi, Cham15TRij 5G29 'QT lnlfwwlflns 7-Dlanlg P70' HRK, Derma D5-c.
