The plot centers around the philosophy of Martin Vanderhof, better known as Grandpa Grandpa believes that everyone should get as much fun out of life as possible. Penelope Vanderhof Sycamore, Grandpa? daughter, dabbles at writing plays and painting portraits, while Essie, Penny's married daughter, has ideas that some day she may become a great ballet dancer. Of course, there is a love story which involves Alice, Penny's unmarried daughter, and Anthony Kirby, the son of a Wall Street millionaire, There are other outstanding characters, such as Mr, De Pinna, a man who came to the Sycamore home one day and just stayedg Mr. Kolenkhov, Essie's ballet teacherg Rheba, the Negro maidg and Donald, the Negro hired boy. We give you this in hope that all the experiences and knowledge f?j we have gained will be of service to the underclassmen in reaching our heights and gaining a superiority comparable to ours. ARTICLE I To the Junior Class we leave our deadly sophistication, the ability to get away with murderf, and the rights to take over the school.
