retiring they take away many. On this stalwart oak there are branches which extend beyond all others. Our National Honor Society is a representative of the finest in scholarship and citizenship. These superior students rate being considered outstanding on our tree. Each year, the Juniors who have maintained a 3.8 average or above are sworn in. They carry on the work of the organization until the first semester of their Senior year. At this time, those students who have the personal qualifications of leadership and scholarship and a 3.3 average, arc accepted as members. During the second semester of their Senior year, the eligible students who have a B average are given the pledge of membership. The doors are open to the gates of knowledge, and through these doors the National Honor Society will enter. Cynthia Humphrey was this year s recipient of the DAR award. National Honor Society Officers are Kris Smith. John Maier and Cynthia Humphrey. Members are: Lon Howey, Gary Fitch. Fred Swartz, Garry Foraker. Donald Stageman. John Wilberg, Richard Funk.
