Dedication In deep appreciation of the many fine things that Clarkston has meant and will continue to mean to us, we the graduating class of 1953, humbly dedicate this issue of the Hilltopper. It is our fervent hope that the trust placed in us as future citizens, will only add to the laurels of this community. And that we feel the full responsibility of our share in the progress of its schools, its businesses and its civic life. 2 Class of 1953

The 1953 Hilltopper Presented by The Graduating Class of Clarkston High School Clarkston, Michigan Foreword: In presenting this, our 1953 issue of the Hilltopper we are striving to tell the story of Progress. Its meaning to us, as students, and as future members of our progressive community. In our own humble manner, we have chosen this theme, deeply grateful to our parents and all citizens of this community who have given so unstintingly of their time and efforts, and who have certainly sacrificed greatly in their own personal requirements to afford up the finer things of life. May we prove worthy of them as we too progress.

Walking Down Memory Lane... These pictures tell the story of our community before the start of the twentieth century. To us, the class of 1953, these pictures seem strange. We recognize certain landmarks, but the way of life, we cannot imagine. Time demands progress. And, like our town, we too make steady progress toward a better tomorrow. Rural Mail Carriers
