CLHSS HISTUHU As we open the dusty scrapbook of our years in the ClarkstonPublic Schools, the first thing that we notice is the class picture of the kindergarten. Amid the group of smiling faceswe are able to pick out a few. Let's see, here is BettyStauter, there's a little tow-head thatcould be no one but Clark Morgan, down in front is Norma Terry, over here we have Carolyn Waterbury and Ruby Powell, and let me see--oh yes, I guess that this little boy over here is Albert Potter. The teacher, Miss Wade is smiling at the whole group. I guess that this picture must have been taken early in the year and she hadn't found out what little devils we were. In the picture on the third page there are just two new faces, that of the teacher, Miss Dunham, and that roly-poly boy in the corner, Lee Johnson. Oh yes,Marilyn Mortimore and her pigtails right in the center. In the third grade there are two new faces, Caroline Beardsley and Betty Jane Brisson. In the picture of the fourth grade we have the usual standbys plus Bob Rioux and our teacher, Miss Fisher. We find not one, but twoclass pictures on the next page because this was the year that we were divided into two parts. One section stayed behind with the fourth grade and the other went on with the sixth. In the corner of the room we find the chart of our achievements on the latest scrap drive and on the war bond sales. Next we come upon the record of our year in the sixth grade. We posed all to- gether once again. The group gained Chuck Collins. In the picture of the seventh grade we are all smiling with joy because we are at our long dreamed of goal--we are a part of the high school. Among the clippings from the Chatterboxfor this year we find an account of a class party and of a noon basketball game lost to the eighth grade. New faces in the class picture include Bob Brown, and the twins, Jenny and Jerry Schroeder. On the last page of our scrapbook de- voted to our days before we entered high school wegfind Marilyn Mortimore again in our class picture. Hidden behind the picture we find our collection ofexcuses. Our diplomas, which were presented by Mr. Ridgley, completed our years of jun- ior high. Now for the journal of our days through high school we turn to our stack of dusty Hilltoppers. Ah! Here we have the one for the memorable year that we became full fledged members of the high school. The group picture shows many new faces-- Joan Booth, Shirley Allen, Joan Bradley, Thelma C overt, Joan Fuller, Donna Gobel, Jean Mcllrath, Cecil Miller, Georgina Thayer, and Carol Torr. Our photo of the class officers shows JoanBooth, Sec- retary: and Chuck Collins, Treasurer. As we dig farther into the dusty pile we find the yearbook for the sophomore year showing only two additions to our little family. One is Nonnette Alexander and the other is Dale Walter Jake 'Jit- ters' Jacobs, Jr. Our secretary for this year was again Joan Booth and the treas- urer, Jenny Schroeder. The yearbook from last year isn't quite so dusty. Here appearing for the first time in any class picture we have Marlene Aiken, Beverly Allen, Cathie Garnier, Dick Guerin, Elmer Hagadone, Carolynn Marshall, Hank Shell, and Bill Switzenberg. The class officers for this year were Shirley Allen,President: Hank Shell, Vice-President: Joan Booth, Sec- retary, and Jenny Schroeder, Treasurer. Events for 'the year included the Junior- Senior Banquet and thejunior play, Don't Ever Grow Up. At last we turn to the newest journal of them all, that portraying our senior year. Completing our class were Peggy Keasy, and Julie Warmouth. The class officers being Hank Shell, Presidents Bill Switzenberg, Vice-President: JoanBooth, Secretary: and Jenny Schroeder, Treas- urer. The first event of the year was the Annual Harvest Home Festival, which was followed by a faculty and senior basketball game. On December 6, we proudly presented our play, Aunty's Big Joke' under the expert direction of Mr. Heimburger. At last came our long awaited trip to Washington D. C. We had a very enjoyable time and were sorry that we had to come home, for we knew that exams were awaiting us. Then grad- uation came and went, leaving us tomake our own place in the world.
