STUDENT COUNCIL he role of Student Council at Clark- ston this year has been a very active one. Student council has Worked to improve studentefaoulty relationships, boost school spirit, and provide dances and other activities for the entertainment and improvement of the school. Student Council members assisted specidc teach- ers throughout the year and tried to make the daily grind a little brighter. To help boost school spirit, Student Council sponsored the Kiss-A-Frog com- petition to help the classes raise money for their floats. The junior class walked away with the biggest collection and Neal Nash was the one to kiss the frog during the pep rally. During Homecoming Week Student Council held AntI11ng Goes -- a fun evening of free prizes and class competi- tion that saw the ninth grade and eleven th grade tie for Hrst place. Spirit Week Cos- tumes were seen the week of Homecoming and the parade featuring the floats, Home- coming Court, band, drill teams, and cheerleaders elimaxed a day of excite- ment. At the announcement at half'-time of the Homecoming queen, Student Coun- cil released helium filled balloons. The culmination of the Week came with the Homecoming dance -- a good time had by all. Other activities sponsored by Student Council during the year included the Clarkston Talent Show, Sadie Hawkins Dance, Homecoming Il week during bas- ketball, collecting for UNICEFQ the Christmas Assembly, the annual blood drive, and the Mr. C Contest. Student Council was also involved with the Georgie Association of Student Coun- cils in a number of ways this year. Clark- ston served as Secretary- Treasurer for the state of Georgia and had s primary role in planning the Rock Eagle sta te con Ven tion. Clarkston also attended the Berry Sum- mer Leadership Conference and a number of district Workshops that provided valu- able ideas for working Within the school.

FCA was composed of over 25 members and they met every other Thursday night. This group was quite different than any other organization here at Clarkston. Our leader is God, we have prayer, Bible reading, testimonies, lessons, movies, and S guest speakers. Special thanks goes to Kathy Duke and Roy Sparks for being great sponsors and ii Q2 getting this special group organized.
