VARSITY BASKETBALL he 1.984-85 Lady Angoras had a rebuilding year this season. Under the leader- ship of new head coach, Mike Coulter, the Lady Angoras worked hard and improved as the season progressed. After their Hrst game at Briarcliff, they proved they could compete with the best of teams. Led by seniors Theresa Bredwell and Susan Dwyer, the girls showed an offense that could pick apart even the toughest of defenses. Junior center Alvia McCurry had her finest varsity season this season by leading the team in re- bounding. Sophomores Satina Waites, Andrea Owen, and Pam Silcox all showed marked im- provement over last season. This year the Angoras faced new teams such as Milton, Hen- derson, Westminster, St. Pius and Stone Mountain. The new competition replaces such teams as Decatur, Towers, Sequoyah, Cross Keys and Lithonia. Starting in September, the girls worked out three times a week with weigh ts, getting stron- ger for the upcoming season. The third week in October, on the court, practice began. With every passing day, improvement could be seen in everyone. Because the team lacked a 6' ft. player, the girls worked extra hard on out- side shooting and defense. Play- ing under a new coach is not an easy task. However the girls worked harder than ever before proving themselves to be win- ners on and off the court. 'll-Iva-nn..,,,,,Q
