H. S. was the scene of the Annual Field meet and Oratorical contest for Ross County. Our girls were the proud winners of second , 1 honors in their division. In 1925 the meet was held at South'Salem where our contestants, in both sexes, won first honors. This year the meet was held at Frankfort where our contestants again won first honors. Girls 50 yard dash-Brown, Frankfort, 64-5 sec., Lela johnson, Clarksburg, Ellen Free, Bainbridge, Jennings, Centralia. Girls half mile walk-Erma Walters, Lib- erty, 4:21, Blanche Wickensimer, Clarks- burg, Carr, Frankfort, Arledge, Centralia. Boys high jump-Barnett Leach, Clarks- burg, 5 ft. 2 1-2, Bob Delis, Centralia, Bain- bridge and Buckskin, Leach evened county record of 5:4 in an exhibition jump. Girls 100 yard dash-Lela Johnson, Clarks- burg, 12 4-5 seconds, Brown, Frankfort, Free, Bainbridge, Dresbach, Centralia. Boys 220 yard dash-Joe Morgan, Clarks- burg, 25 2-5 sec., Harrel, Centralia, Mallow, Frankfort, Fred Thomas, Kingston. Girls potato race-Jennings, Centralia, Mary L. CLARKSBURG HIGH SCHOOL ANNUAL 17 LARKSBURG has played an active part in High School- Tournaments. - In the Spring of 1923 the Boys and Girls teams of the county were the g j guests at the Community House. In the same year Clarksburg was a participant in the Greenfield District Tournament. In the following year the County Tournament was held at Frankfort, the Girls winning second honors. In the Spring of 1925 the tournament was taken to Chillicothe under state supervision. The girls' teams were not given a tournament. This year the county tournament was again held under state supervision, but was this time taken to Camp Sherman. CLARKSBURG HIGH SCHOOL ANNUAL 19 Clarksburg Takes Third Place in the Southeast District Meet ' at Wellston, May 8, 1926 Clarksburg High School carried away third place honors in the South- eastern District Field and Track Meet held at Wellston on May 8, 1926. Wellston won first place and New Lexington won second place. Twelve teams competed for honors. The total points respectively were as follows: Wellston, first, 54 points, New Lexington, second, 42 1-6 points, Clarksburg, third, 33 5-6 points. Clarksburgis entire team of Ross County champions was entered in the District Meet. The following made up this year's team: joe Morgan, Capt., Porter Mumford, Manager, Dwight Anderson, Allen Tootle, Howard Smith, Barnett Leach, Don Anderson, Rolland Bookwalter, and Marcus Ater. Clarksliitlrgis scoring was as follows: fs, ,A,, 88O?lyardijFii1n, Marcus Ater, first. One rnildlrelay, Marcus, Porter, Dwight and Joe, first. Pole vault, Howard Smith, tied for first, Don Anderson, tied for fifth. Runfhing high jump, Allen Tootle, tied for first, Barnett Leach, tied for fifth. One mile run, Dwight Anderson, third. Shot put, Don Anderson, fifth, Howard Smith, no place. Javelin throw, Allen Tootle, thirdg Marcus Ater, no place. Running broad jump, Don Anderson, second, Rolland Bookwalter, no place. 220 yard dash, Joe Morgan, third, Porter Mumford, no place. STATE MEET May 21-22 at Ohio State University Running high jump-Allen Tootle tied for second and Barnett Leach tied for third. Pole vault, Howard Smith tied for fourth. Half-mile run, Marcus Ater won fourth place. - Don Anderson in the broad jump and Dwight Anderson in the mile run made a creditable showing.
